don't forget theres a zip "cab" which you have to unzip manually.so that it puts folders at their places. until you have folders with "flag" "admiral" "medals" excetera, it's not correctly installed.
Never heard of this before. I don't have an ''admiral'' folder either.

Is there a way to ban shipping lines from entering a system? I've got a bit of a facepalm going on.

Some NPR decided it didn't want to kill me so I was like "whatever, let's be friends" and then they built a jumpgate to my home world. Nice and friendly. My shipping lines are like LET'S TRAAAAADE! and went to get their trade on. Unfortunately the trading fleet met up with one single swarm ship in a system between my home world and theirs.

Did you know that 1.2 million tons of wreckage spawns an awful lot of swarm gunboats?

Also each time my shipping line builds a new ship, they're all like LET'S TRAAAAADE!

Anyone have an idea how to kill 500 swarm gunboats at once?

And if it takes more than ~12 months to do, will it be able to kill 600 swarm gunboats? 800? 1200?

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

Good god. I have no idea how to kill off that many swarm ships, but you can bust down the civilians by obsoleting the ship designs until it's safe again.

Alright, I've seen and heard a lot about assault carriers wielding FACs and I've decided to start a new game using an FAC-Carrier set-up. I usually do 8k, 12k, 15k, 20k ton ship fleets comprised of Capitol anti-ship destroyers, anti-missile defense cruisers, particle-beam armed cruisers, and smaller PD/anti-missile escort ships.

Instead, I'm going to try an anti-missile volley covered by an anti-missile spam, followed up by some sort of short-range laser/meson/something FACs. I've NEVER used non-missiles before besides for PD, so this will all be new to me. Rather than having a small fleet of 10 specialized ships, I'll have a writhing mass of tiny matter annihilators, hehe.

Any tips, ideas, build set-ups, or tactics much appreciated! :)

An alternative tactic to use when facing the swarm is to simply match/slightly exceed their speed and outrange'em with other beam weapons.

Mesons don't synergize that well with other weapon types due to the fact that they ignore shields and armor. If you've already taken down the opponent's shields and breached their armor with missiles, there's no reason not to use lasers/etc and take advantage of the already worn down defenses.

And yes, scientists are trained in academies, but it's a crap shoot when it comes to what type of scientist you get.

Yeah. Every leader you can get is produced by Military Academies, which is why it is a good idea to have quite a few of them, as far as I know.

Yeah... Evidenced by the total Logistics scientists outnumbering the rest of the types put together in my current game. Most of them suck, too. Thanks for the replies, guys.

Nonsense. The range of their meson cannons is pretty short, so all you need is a somewhat faster ship with longer-ranged beam weapons and you're golden.

They don't take a whole lot to destroy, if you have decent missile tech you could design an anti-FAC missile cruiser with fast, maneuverable missiles (try and get the 10k speed hit rate up high) and low res fire control/sensor so you can target them from a ways off. A couple size 9 warheads should do the trick.

The worst part is the micromanagement of targeting all of them with a couple missiles each. You could design the missiles with sensors and just fire a whole bunch of small volleys (each volley impacts together, so if you fire a big volley it only kills one ship) and let them find their own target after the initial one gets destroyed. Just figure out how many of your missiles it takes to kill one and assign that many launchers to each fire control and set all the fire controls on a target and fire away. Just make sure the sensors have longer range than the missiles and enemy ships would travel in 5 seconds (so missile speed + enemy ship speed both multiplied by 5 = minimum sensor range, just to make sure they don't zip past eachother without the sensors detecting them).

They wouldn't need to be super long range, just enough for you to be able to fire a whole bunch and let them take care of the swarm on approach. Something like 10m km would probably be plenty, with sensors tuned for 800 tons. Even with pretty low end techs (like tier 4 stuff, the ones that cost 8k in missile research, engine one is a bit more expensive of a prereq) you can make something that has 10m km range, size 9 warhead, with a 90% hit rate vs 10k speed in a size 8 missile. Similar launcher techs would fire them every 60 seconds. Design a ship with say 12 launchers and 3 fire controls and enough magazine capacity to carry about 240 missiles then build yourself 10 of them. Most of em would probably go down from a volley of that, so that would take down about 30 ships every 60 seconds. Even just sitting still at 10m km you'd have time to fire 17 of those volleys before they got to you. Flying away from them at just 2k km/s would let you fire all 20 of your missile volleys before they got to you with time to spare. 20 volleys from 10 ships like that would destroy four or five hundred FACs for sure, maybe six hundred.

I've never seen that many swarm ships. Worst I've had was about 100 after an NPR had been feeding them scout ships, and a similar tactic worked fine on them (although I didn't need as many ships).
