Yeah, if you add sensors they'll retarget. On that subject, that is a good lesson as to why you moderate your fire. If you don't know how tough your enemies are, launch one or two volley and then hold the distance open. General rule of thumb is that 2000tons or less will usually go down fairly fast, possibly with only 3-4 missiles, depending on what sort of ordinance we're talking about. Apart from that, what really matter is tech level, armor, and tonnage. I went up against a TL1 NPR just now, and could wipe most of their ships with a single size-9 warhead 6 missile, but their 13000+ton ships took dozens just because of the sheer size, as I was getting perfect hit ratios and they only had 2 layers of armor.

Eh, I launched a bunch not because I was worried about the damage, but because of the target's AMM screen (it wiped my railgun ship out with volleys of ~50 AMMs every 10 seconds :(). Turns out if your missiles move damn near three times as fast as the enemies AMM then they don't have a very high chance of being shot down :p

The first ship died in 2 missiles because of an internal magazine explosion :D

Oh gawd, the kind that spam AMMs at you... Those are so annoying, just because there is no possible way to intercept all of that, and they always seem to target ships that don't have enough armor to stand up to it.

Oh god, bad memories... Catastrophic ship failures *shudder*

I hate those bastards. The ship with 1000 points of armor I showed off? Yeah, one was destroyed by a catastrophic 70+ system chain reaction explosion. All done by AMM spam.

I mean the enemy ship died in two missiles.... 12,000 tons and two missiles killed it due to a magazine failure :D

My railgun ship died because it's crew was a bunch of idiots. It's PD shot down ~75% of the missiles and it had heavy shields to block the rest.... but it sat there awaiting acknowledgment for so long it died anyway. If it had moved as soon as I gave the order, the shields never would have gone down in the first place.

Even then it was pretty pathetic, including the missiles shot down as well as the ones that splatted on the shields not just the ones that killed it, they must have shot over 500 missiles (maybe a lot more). The shields alone were 100 points, and it took at least triple that in warheads to take them down due to PD and recharge

(yes I know about fleet training, I didn't bother training him because I had wiped out the other ships that shot sane numbers of missiles without any trouble)

What could I possibly do with a 75% size/4x recharge laser?

.... shoot 25% more lasers 4 times slower?

If lasers had a decent range it might be good for a 'sniper' fleet. Too bad they don't.

That's almost completely useless unless you slap on tons on a ship.

Yeah, it really is, but there's lots of almost completely useless things in the game so there's no reason to single that out is there?

Although I've never fought them, most people say meson spam is the way to go.

Yup, sensors help. That's also why you should be conservative when using missiles. Send a volley, wait. Send another one if the ennemy survived...

Can someone please explain sensors to me?

I mean you have thermal and EM and grav and planetary and I don't know what each one is used for and how they affect stuff.

Also, how in the blue blazes do you unlock absorption shields?

Edit: Also, is there a way to save your galactic map once you've moved everything around? It's a bit annoying and time-consuming having to move it all around again, especially when you have a system with 10 freakin' jump points total.
