First you will need to download the 4.91 pack, available here. Run the setup program.
IMPORTANT! Eventually it will ask you if you want to overwrite a bunch of files. Say No to all of these!

Second, unzip the 4.91 patch located inside the previous download. To install, simply extract everything to the Aurora install folder, overwriting anything that needs it.

After that, just keep downloading patches and following the previous instruction. The most current version is 5.42.

Also, depending on what version of windows you use it may instead say "This file is older than yours, do you want to keep your old one?" to which you answer YES, rather than no. Read the pop up carefully when installing, you want to keep your files and not overwrite.

4.91 - http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/topic,3479.0.html
5.40 - http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/topic,3330.0.html
5.42 - http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/topic,3347.0.html

Install them in that order. Other than omitting what I included above and the latest version 5.42, Sirus is essentially correct.

That's harsh, dude/ma'am  :(

I edited my post before you finished yours with the correct version number, but I didn't know that different versions of Windows worded the prompts differently. I'm still stuck on XP, leave me alone  :P

Apologies to greatorder, if I screwed you up in any way.

wait, what? where is that folder?
I'm confused  :'(
I need an installation video tutorial for this game I think...
If you used the default installation path, it should be under Program Files, right?

I can't do video, but I could probably put together a screenshot tutorial if you'd like. Take a while, but it might help.

Well, on my system (using the default installation path), this is where Aurora is located:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Here is the zip archive of 4.91:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Extract everything like so:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It will ask you to overwrite the Aurora program and the Stevefire database, like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This will bring you up to 4.91. From there, you should be able to follow these steps for the rest of the patches.
Again, I'm running Windows XP, so your exact file location may differ.

Hopefully this will help.

I run vista and when I tried installing it to program files, I got a metric fuck-ton of error messages when trying to run a patch.
So you might want to change the installation folder. Although you can ofc try in program files first.

btw: the patches will also ask you if you want to overwrite something, and in this case you must say yes.

In Vista, I don't think you should be installing to Program Files. I think you're supposed to install to Program Files (x86), because most installation programs point to it instead.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Actually both of those are 'protected' areas. Install it to another folder like just c:\aurora or something

So I got into a game, and suddenly when I hit the "pass 30 days" button, it starts going in intervals of a second. After I turn on auto-turns adn the seconds tick on and on, eventually it starts going day by day. I read that this is because some aliens I know nothing about are doing something stupid halfway across the galaxy. Any solutions?

I think the general solution for that is to find them and erase them from history with evil cheaty powers.

Either ^^^that^^^ or hunt them down and blow them up the old fashioned way. In this game, NPRs follow the same rules as humans, so sometimes they'll be taking short turns to blow each other up.

There is an Auto Turns option, I think you jus t check the box near the increment buttons, choose how long you want to go, and wait.  Problem is nothing important to you will interrupt eithher.  I have never used it though, so it might not work like that.

Holy crap. It's even hard to start up the game. Who was this made for, a person with 15 brains?
