Is it possible to create Chaff Drones? Or basically drones created to attract missle attention?

Probably not, since targets are generally designated by the firing ships. The only thing that will cause a missile to switch targets is the destruction or contact loss of the original one. But they'll only switch if they have onboard sensors. Otherwise they'll just self-destruct.

But that method quintin522 suggested seems like a clever way to saturate the AMM side of point defense. You'd have to make sure both the decoys and real missiles travel at the same speed, though.

Nope.

Dang I read the designs wrong.

The game suddenly became less awsome. It was cool back when I thought Missles were just ships with different systems in them to make them hit enemies with explosive results.

You can still have Carrier ships right? with smaller ships inside?

Regarding the orbital colony, does this mean I can now make my dream of building a planet sized spaceship come true? (or at least enough to have a ship that can transport everything a planet can have around?

Nope.
Do the laser warheads work? That would sorta be like a missile with a gun.

A few hundred sorium harvesters, a bunch of cargo ships to bring mines to planets and suck them dry :)

Technically yes, but it would be very very difficult. You would not only need orbital habitat capacity for the intended population but you'd need cryostasis berths for them as well. Orbital habitats cannot have population in them when the ship is moving so all colonists would have to go into crysostasis whenever you moved to a new location.

Talking something like a a few hundred million liters of fuel on my small designs. Easily into the billions on bigger ones. I could probably optimize a bit, but it's still most likely prohibitively expensive to go beyond a certain point.

It isn't actually impossible, just remarkably difficult. A fleet of 30-50 terraforming ships could do it. :)
