I think it involves putting a colony on it, but after that I'm stumped.
Transport Automated mines and they'll start drilling. After that, there's two options: Put down a Mass Driver on the colony with the mines to shoot the minerals at other planets with mass drivers or ferry the minerals with the cargo ships. Mass drivers are the more fuel efficient option, just remember to keep at the VERY LEAST one on the receiving planet, unless you like bombarding your own people with multi-hundred ton 1000km/s clumps of minerals.

Also research and building take anywhere from 5 to 30 years apparently, which is kinda long...
30 years? Good god man! How big are the ships/components? Have you been researching any research rate/shipyard BP/construction factory improvements at all? Are you assigning maximum science labs to research/maximum factories to construction?

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

The ships are the ones recommended during the tutorial, so it's probably the fact I didn't assign maximum science labs  :-\

I'll fix it later, changing the resolution to the required settings to see everything on Aurora turns all black text on Firefox yellow until I relog.

For some reason.

Aurora messes with my Firefox menu fonts as well as my system taskbar menu fonts. I blame Visual Basic (and specifically what programming practices usually accompany that language family) for that.

I've noticed it too, but it's temporary :P. However it's a bit scary for people who are paranoid about malware hehe.

F4 for officers window, go to civilian administrators, select an admin (check their stats) select the planet (make sure the R on person is => the planet) and then hit assign.

3201 is something to do with NPRs making designs with tech that they don't have or something. I've had it a few times, but I've been able to press OK until it stopped popping up, can you do that?

Now I can't seem to figure out how to get some automated mines off of Earth and where I need them to go  ::)

I'm sure it involves Mass Drivering something onto a tug ship, then smacking that tug ship over to the asteroid, right?  ???

You need to create a freighter, then put them in a task group make the task group go to the planet and load automated mines, move to the freigher to the location and unload automated mines

It is ineffecient, will accomplish next to nothing, and is complete overkill. It will also probably not work. In other words, dwarfy.

I clicked ok 200 times and it still didn't go away I ended up having to shut my computer off.

Mental image of a mass driver firing mines into a tug ship is priceless.
