. . . I'm so confused.  SO CONFUSED!!!  I'm going to try and update my game to the latest version (was trying 4.91) and see if that somehow makes the tutorials make more sense.  Somehow I was missing like half the options it was talking about.  It looks kinda cool, but if I can't figure this out I might just have to abandon it :(

I'd bet money you're missing the options due to low screen resolution cutting the bottom of the window off.

My ship won't pick up a xenologist team, do I need a certain component?

You shouldn't, unless that was added in. I've always been able to put teams on any ship.

Ouch, the learning curve hurts my brain...  I got all the options to show now that I updated, but now I'm so confused, I'm not even sure if I'm doing this right.  Even with the tutorials I think I'm doing this wrong.

Skim through the tutorials, pick up the important parts such as how many tonnes a hull space is, what a slipway is, various other stuff. I think I read through so many of the tutorials, got bored and decided to try and figure it out/play round with it for myself, referring to the wiki or the B12 andAurora forums for help. A lot of the wiki was actually made by B12 members.

Indeed. This thread has few posts as-is.

Running out of minerals means death.
Yep. You won't be able to do anything after that.

Your ships the explode from no minerals, you can't get the minerals from that back unless you already have some...etc.

I hate to tell you, but nothing in that list actually helps us. It's just starting stats. Can't get anything useful out of that.

Anyway, a good way to get started is to read the official tutorials when you want to figure things out, make sure to search, try it yourself, if you can't figure it out ask here. That's the way I learned. It took a while, but it wasn't that bad.

There needs to be a way to tear down buildings and get minerals from them. And mass driver attachments for ships.

Anything I can do about some alien ship spamming about adjusting time increment because a ship is in firing range? Had to go to SM to find out that, but I can't figure any way to locate the ship to make it STFU, I'm tired of the 60 second intervals.

I don't think you can do anything but check the automatic turns button and walk away for 10-15 minutes. It's one of the serious problems the game has.
