OK guys, i added a bunch of information to the wiki for player designed Systems.

BUT... I need you! ^_^

I added a new section labeled Point Defense, its on the main WIKI page, I gave it a general information and tree breakdown.

Id like some help on filling it out pretty solidly, maybe even with a basic missile design/turret design, etc along with active sensors to go with the new design. to get new players set.

For players I don't think government matters at all.  For NPRs it matters very little, modifying their stuff like diplomacy and xenophobia slightly.  It's mostly an RP thing I believe.

If it's an NPR I don't think you can modify it after initial creation with just SM mode, but I'm not certain.  Naturally if your default is a different race you would not know they are there until you encounter them, just like with the JPs.  Also if you had any windows up when you created the race try to close the window and reopen it.  Sometimes the windows don't keep up with what happens using SM mode and need refreshed.

This is where my experience fails though, I haven't yet made an NPR race.  I've just been counting on the RNG to give me a few after a couple dozen systems.  If you have access to designer mode you should be able to view them if they were successfully created through that.

EDIT: After creating the Tarkan Imperium, it seems yes, after the initial creation you cannot further edit an NPR.  Not without some way to set them as the default race to modify their planet and racial tolerances.  That kinda blows.  It can be done in designer mode, but from what I see that is the only way.  Might wanna put a suggestion on the boards for a way to modify an NPR after creation.  Probably all it would take is to automatically bring up the created NPR's race and economics window after creation, asking a confirmation when you exit those, and then never letting you access them again. It might have already been requested, so I would check first.  At the very least it might mention some method to do it that I am unaware of.

Use the survey nearest body/planet/moon/asteroid main order in the second task fleet tab.

It's survey nearest survey location for the gravi survey ships as well.

Also having a conditional order to refuel at 30% fuel left and resupply at 20% supplies left can keep you free of unneeded headaches.

Thanks a dwarfen ton!

Alright, I'm getting into this though it gave me a headache before I have to admit... urgs. Just like back when I first played DF, loving the challange...

Whats the most easy way to find my ships on the spacemap (jump to ship pos?)
Also it always says - when i want to make a task force - "need 5 officers..." I have like 12867 officers, but no clue how to put em there...

*edit* Where do I set conditional Orders?

*double edit* Can't find the "scan nearest option" either... *fails*

f12 task force screen 2nd tab over from left = screen where you will find all those options in 2 drop down boxes.

How does one go about salvaging wrecks, and what are they good for? I found a completely empty system, just a star, surrounded by wrecks of 25,000 tons or higher.

LOL, ive been messing with this wiki and game so much I need to do the same.

Honestly you can get a fair grasp of the game via reading this 130 page forum thread lol, probably could fill a wiki with 10-15 or so pages worth of information atliest out of the 130.

I fear Aurora's 5.00 patch may be to blame for my computer's sudden troubles booting up where it would shut itself off shortly after powering on. I had to restore my hard drive to a point before patching it twice now, and the problem only seems to start after the patch.

I'm not saying for certain that it is at fault, but Aurora's going into my recycle bin unpatched until I know otherwise.  :-\

The 5.0 patch changes two files which do not get called when you boot. I'd be inclined to believe you have something else going on as the game install and patch do not change any files used by windows unless you allow it to overwrite certain files, which you are not supposed to.

Do I need a specific piece of equipment for salvage or will any ship with cargo holds do?

What you say makes sense, but patching Aurora is the only change I've made to my computer as of late. Aurora is just going to sit in my recycle bin until I find reason to believe that it isn't the problem.
The 'patch' is just a replacement for aurora's executable file and its database. It does not change ANYTHING relating to the windows operating system. Overwriting two non-system files is very unlikely to cause your computer to be unable to boot. You may have something else going on at the same time, perhaps you have a virus which is corrupting data? Windows does not normally call the aurora files when booting, so changes to them cannot affect it's boot sequence.

I wish I could help you troubleshoot but I'd need a lot more information.
