Of course its still incredibly useful, just that ships getting supplies at construction for free?? or abstracted into the cost is a bit weird, you should drain the planetary supply of supplies first, then begin adding the cost of supplies into the ships time/cost factor at the shipyard.

So if you wanted to build those big resupply bases in 10 years, you begin stocking up on supply now, and in 10 years youll have your 5 million supply to help fill those ships in 10 years, a little faster instead of having your factories churn them out at the last second as ship construction is occurring.

I find it convenient that they build the supplies along with the ship.

Also, i just noticed, why did you build freighters that had maintenance capacity? They aren't military vehicles and wouldn't cargo holds be much better suited for carrying them around?

testing to figure out how the supply system works. didnt matter what i built just wanted to see if it sucked any supply out of the planet supply stockpile.

Pretty sure for a vechile to act a as a space parts supply ship, it must carry it in supply modules, and not cargo holds, as the equalized or give maintiance command wont work. Placing them in cargo holds is for transporting them between colony sites.

You also should probably mark them as a supply ship on the ship design screen

Done, i also set up a collier, which.... i think will work with ships that are not fighters right? a bunch of missile magazines on a transport type ship, so my fleet can rearm.

Yea, you can set up a universal craft service ship to act a tanker, supply and collier ship with maintience modules for forward base stuff. Sure. That one of the stronger aspect about the game, it has no preconception on ship design.

Jump drives seem to add significantly to the maintenance demands. I run smaller faster survey ships with a jump tender, which since it does nothing while waiting in system, can be full of engineers to keep the failure rate down.  Both types of survey craft are military for engine efficiency and speed.  There are all sorts of ways of running this, and prolly no best option.

I had a lump engine brake down once.....cost me 9000 maintenance points.  :'(

Those things are beasts.

That does seem to be the case. A mark of a well balance system.

This will bite you in the ass if you run into an enemy and they blow up your jumpgates.

God DAMN I love this game!
