Wealth is from population, financial centres, civilian mining colonies if you aren't buying the minerals and civilian freight. It's also used to do pretty much everything, so just spending it all on your civilians isn't a good idea.

Yes, I was up to around 40k, and now I am down to 10k. And the 2nd +20% Tech is still a couple thousand RP away.

Just found my first nebula system: max speed is 227 km/s/armour level.
Luckily there doesn't seem to be anything of interest so I can just leave it alone.

whenever I start up the game and try to go into the system map (F3) i get a runtime error: 339
it reads:
"component 'tabctl32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not
correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

Your search fu is weak, young(?) one: All I needed to search with was "component 'tabctl32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not
correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid", and lo and behold the second result was the correct one.

You did not mention trying it so I had no reason to believe you tried that. Calm down.

that link for the website with instruction on how to deregister does not load.
I assume it's because it's a link to a post in the old forum's URL. It's supposed to lead to this thread: http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/topic,1978.msg18823.html

First, tell me, is "TABCTL32.OCX" inside your windows/system32 folder or anywhere else on your computer?

Don't move the file to System32. Move it back. I assume it's supposed to be in SysWOW64.

Anyway, the reason the command isn't working is because it isn't pointing to the file.

Here's the correct command:

Code: [Select]
regsvr32 /u *LOCATION OF THE FILE'S FOLDER*\tabctl32.ocx
Insert the location of the file's folder between the Asterisks or it WILL NOT work. If all is well, it should succeed. If it doesn't, then you're doing it wrong.

is the pathing case-sensitive?

EDIT: it says failed to load the module "*C:\Windows\SysWOW64*\tabctl32.ocx"

1. I suspect that i've entered it wrong
2. should it be reading that whole thing as the module?

I don't believe so. Try multiple times if it doesn't work to be sure, though.

actually I guess a better question would be what would the right path be?

C:\windows\syswow64\

or

computer\C:\windows\syswow64\

or

is this entirely wrong?

C:\windows\syswow64\ would be the correct one. In ALL path situations, "computer" is completely left out because, let's be honest, it's completely redundant.

ok so i put in this: regsvr32 /u *C:\windows\syswow64\*\tabctl32.ocx
and that gave the same error defined in the aforementioned post.

Er, whoops, I said "between the Asterisks". And you took it the wrong way. I should have made it more clear. My apologies.

I should have said "Replace the asterisks and the text inside with the location".

Use regsvr32 /u C:\windows\syswow64\tabctl32.ocx
