Also, how do I create a geosurvey team? I made a Geosurvey ship and assigned someone to it, and they are surveying, but I've read elsewhere that you can make a team or something?

Also, how do I see the geosurvey report? I clicked on the geosurvey report button in the system map, but all it shows is Earth. The geosurvey results show up in the event window, though.

Edit: Oh my fuck this game god damn.

To Form a Geosurvey Team: A Newbie's Guide

Firstly, select one of your colonies from the Economics window. It does not have to be Earth, the team will automatically relocate to whichever colony you pick.

Secondly, go to the Teams/Academy tab.

Thirdly, select Geology from the Team Type drop-down list.

Fourthly, choose at least 5 people from the list of eligible officers. You may wish to check the "Unassigned Only" button, so you do not accidentally assign a governor or top scientist to the team.

Finally, click the Create Team button. You are set!

Note: In fact, it is better to not place a new team on Earth, as it will immediately begin surveying, and once a planet is done with a survey it cannot be surveyed again. Wait until the team you create is more skilled.

Thanks... so now I've dropped my geosurvey team off on Mars using the Flight class Geosurvey ship... how do I get them to survey? They aren't showing up on the Teams/Academy tab.

Are you looking at the teams/academy tab of Mars?
Also, they will automatically start their survey and when they are finished they start to annoy you until you transport them to an unsurveyed body.

Oh, dropped them off on Mercury, actually.

But I don't see a, well, anything for Mercury.

Do you have a colony on Mercury?

You don't need population or anything, you just need to add Mercury as a colony the same way you added Mars.

The only ship I have made is the Flight class Geosurvey ship. Pretty sure I have no colonies.

Ugh I feel like slamming my heads against the wall.

Edit: Also, anyone have a link to that alarm clock application that provides the MSSTDFMT.dll file?

follow instruction. did it a bunch of times for other games which require windows 32 bit dll...and they worked. >.>

edit: usually reboot isn't needed.
grab the zip. unzip, place where it's asked to, no need to reboot.

Well, there are two ways to add a colony:

Go to System View (F9), select the planet, moon, or asteroid you want to colonize, and click the Add Colony button.
On the Economic window, click the Geo Status button, which will allow you to view planets by what mineral are located on.

When you drop a team off on a body, or anything actually, it will automatically become a colony.

Yeah, colony is just the game terminology for "something player owned on a planet". Drop off an automated mine? It's a colony. Leave a fuel stockpile there? It's a colony. Same for teams.

Hahaha, I found an easter egg.

While looking through my officers, I noticed on one of them it said "Yes!" under Sex. Clicking away and back it was back to just "M".

Heh, I wondered if I was just seeing things when I had that too.

There are also some interesting results when, after skillful Task Group shifting, you give a Task Group an order to absorb itself or join itself:

"X has an order to absorb itself. While it would be entertaining to watch the attempt, this is not actually possible."

"X has a order to join with itself. While it would be entertaining to watch the attempt, this is not actually possible."

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

It isn't a zip. It's a program. Currently letting it run and scan stuff.

Edit: I'm not sure if this is what I am looking for. All I need is the msstdfmt.dll file, I believe. Where to put it, though...
