You should at the very least test the game first. If it turns out that you don't /like/ it.. well.

I dont think it's ever worth it to buy expensive hardware just to play one single game, imo.

Is it worth buying a flat screen monitor to play this on a laptop? I know this is based on personal opinion, but I'd like to hear your personal opinion.

Okay, thanks, guys. I'll wait until the dev releases a version with adjustable screen size (if that ever happens) or when I have the juice to get a desktop then.

Unless Steve has stated something recently to this effect. Its forever a no go. First and foremost this game is meant to be enjoyed by him. The dude has 4 huge monitors that he plays on, on his personal set up.

If you go onto the forum, you can find numerous threads discussing on how it can be done, and you can find Steve has experiment with a few of these implementation but has never liked any of them.

How can he like simulating a year in 5 second increments?

Each 5 seconds takes about a second to process, so if a battle goes on for a year you need to wait 73 days in real life o_o

Has anyone actually endured that?

Frankly, if a battle was going on for a year, I'd either be thinking that there was an unresolvable stalemate (mutual weapon destruction), or that these enemies are so badass I haven't got a chance.

Bear in mind that he can manipulate the database far more efficiently than we can. Hence, if two empires are duking it out and forcing 5-second increments, he can just delete them/force peace between them. You... are sadly out of luck.  :P

?

I can force peace with them too. I just don't like it as that just makes it harder and is the same as not putting in a second player or starswarm.

[I removed a mini flame war which was quoted here- tt]

Anyway, if anyone doesn't read the Aurora forums that much or at all, Steve says the new version will be out soon (a week or two, and he said that 6 days ago).

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

I've finished all my assignments, so I have a bunch of time.

Edit: 5 seconds into the game, I don't know what happened but I had to end the process.

Yeah, just happened again with something different. I don't know.

Nevertheless, it doesn't really seem like a game I would enjoy. It seems like there is a huge amount of management involved, not something I really enjoy. Still, it wasn't too hard to understand, and I think I managed to do... something.
