It may be just a coincidence but it is possible that the maximum number of lines is equal to the number of populationed colonies you have including Earth. So far my experience doesn't contradict this up to 3 lines/3 colonies. This could be checked with SM mode, no NPR start, setting up N colonies and waiting lots of time.

1. there is a green "g", what is it?
2. you see a white dot marked as moving at 2870km/s and has a thermal rating of 1200 that is named Creeper 001, what is it?

With a green "g", not only could you deduce that it was a marksgoblin, you could deduce that it was not elite because it was not flashing, and that it was not severely injured or dead because the background was not brown or red.

Just being pedantic for no reason at all.

I have four populated colonies and five shipping lines.

I've designed Luxery liners.

But my civilians refuse to ever build them.
Are there perhaps requirements for the designs?

I generally get 2 civilian shipping lines fairly soon one after the other, with multiple colonies in Sol System.

I have got a 3rd after i got a colony outside of Sol System but i dont know if it was from that or not.

I'm not asking about shipping lines.

It has everything to do with them.  And requirements are same as a colony ship, but with luxury space instead....  As long as its not designated as military.
You could build a half colony and half luxury ship if you wanted.  Doesn't really matter...

Well, luxury liners are mostly for flavour, given colony ships are obviously a much better option for colonist transport. I'm afraid the civilian companies know that all too well, so only rarely build liners. It'd be nice if they built them more often, but then, I've configured my System Map to not show civilian vessels at this point (there are tons around already, and they tend to clutter my view), so I wouldn't notice.

You can do that? How? Is it a new feature?

Great game.

Anyone find a Hypergiant star?

I have yet to find even a (Normal) Giant, I've only found up to Subgiants.

I REALLY hope my first Hypergiant is the lovely YV Canis Majoris, hmm... anyone ever thought what it would be like to live on one of the planets in it's system? Major sunburn, heheheh...

Edit; fail-link.

Anyone able to get a tool like ResizeEnable to work for a smaller resolution. I'm traveling this week, and I don't have access to the external monitor I usually use. I can manage, since most of the windows fit on the *x900 window size I can get (can't get my computer to use a higher resolution than the screen is designed for) and the ones that don't I can use the hidden buttons by rotating my screen, but that's really REALLY annoying.

It's kind of a shame really. Only screen I have problems with so far is the ship design window.

1800-2100 times as big as our sun in fact.

"pilot, how much longer to the next jump gate?"
"five seconds captain."
*on loud speakers* "alright, everyone lets get ready to name anoth- OH GOD THE LIGHT IT BURNNSSS!"  ;D

Too bad it might be gone by the time we get to it in Real life. from the Hypergiant page quote "Because of their high masses, the lifetime of a hypergiant is very short in astronomical timescales, only a few million years compared to around 10 billion years for stars like the Sun. Because of this, hypergiants are extremely rare and only a handful are known today."

And since the distance is 4900 light years (1ly=10,000,000,000,000 km, therefore 4900ly=49,000,000,000,000,000 km [49 quadrillion km]).

So, let's say we have a 10,000 ton explorer ship named 'explorer' for this instance, the 'explorer' can do a staggering 100,000 km/h and has 100 years of supply.

49,000,000,000,000,000/100,000 = 490,000,000 hours, you see what I'm going with here?
490,000,000/24 = 20416666 days/365 = 55936 years, safe to say even if I got even partially wrong they would be dead,

49,000,000,000,000,000/100,000 =/= 490,000,000 hours
49,000,000,000,000,000/100,000 = 490,000,000,000 hours
490,000,000,000/24/365=55,936,073 years. You were 1000 times overly optimistic here.
I SUCK ON ZEROS.
now lets try 100,000 km/s, (I'm not going to bother you with the math) 15537 years, yeah.  :-\

So unless we find out how to go faster than light we are not going to get there, ever, alive. :(

Just thought you would be interested.  :P

Edit; I REALLY DO. AT LEAST I'M RIGHT ABOUT THE LIGHT AND DEAD THING.
