not yet, that was going to be the next step, since it seems to be an all around fix for everything.
After I download that,  can I copy my database on the new installation so I don't lose my current game?

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

wonderful. pity it is a 3 hours download from where I am.

I tried to make a fighter, but it seems that at my tech level it is hard to make good ones, as posted earlier. In the end, I made a fast one (8500km/s), but only one gauss gun at 3 shots per 5s. Particle beam has proved to be basically impossible until I get smaller engines. which means a snail fighter , or a few more tech levels. Still, it can be used for other ships.

edit: also, met an alien with a jump gate chain leading to sol. not sure where their homeworld is, but good or no good I need to start producing a fleet.

Struve 23somethingsomething has had its defending fleet destroyed. While no ships of my own were destroyed, two of my carriers had their armor shredded, and one of my assault transports was heavily damaged, through somehow no lives were lost on board. The same could not be said of the troop complements they carried, however. While the boarding of the first enemy vessel, a beam destroyer, went off with few casualties, the second boarding attempt was a disaster. Most marines never even got to see action, missing the target entirely. The few that were able to board had to plant breaching charges, and were eventually overun by the defenders. The escort destroyers pulled alongside the crippled vessel, even in death attempting to flew, and spent a solid two minutes tearing it apart with their gauss cannons. Haven't found anyone else in the system, so I'm going to send in salvage ships to find out what I can. In the mean time, going to send my fleet back to rearm, refuel, and repair, then send them on to the next system.

how do I repair fighters? does the mothership require maintenance supplies? I forgot to assign production to the PDC, so some fighters got damage ( I would have though maintenance facilities could supply them, but seems not). the PDC has no maintenance supplies. Are they broken forever?

Try sending them in for overhaul. Not sure if that would work or not since none of my fighters have taken hits that they survived. In retrospect sending 16 fighters to take on what were almost certainly beam warships was not the best idea.

Engaged in a second battle. While my previous battle was only against a few beam ships and some missile destroyers, this fleet seems to be much more well armed. They are sending salvos of 14 missiles at me in greater salvos of over 200 missiles, but those extra three destroyer escorts I decided to wait for are more then proving their worth. My AMMs were useless, or to be more accurate unneccesary. The two dual gauss cannon turrets on each escort is ripping apart each salvo, and the few that inevitably get though are easy targets for the CIWS of any ships they target. My own missiles have had much better luck, destroying several enemy ships already.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

If i remember correctly being docked at a mothership (not PDC) will eventualy repair them if there is enough MSP left. But it has been a very long time i had a fighter survive armor damage...

So, when making a carrier ship I need to keep a few things in mind:

  • Extra maintenance supplies for fighters.
  • Slightly extra fuel for repairing fighters.
  • Obviously, hangar space.
  • If they're missile fighters, magazines for missile capacity.
  • Extra flight crew berths (Just extra crew quarters right?)

Those are some of the essentials and don't include any extra weapons, CIWS, etc. Am I missing anything?

If making a fleet of carriers/ one with loads and loads of fighters, consider a parasite tractor tug to rescue any fighters dead in the water?

dock the fighter on some hangar, then on the ship screen (f6) you can go to damage control, you'll see a list of damaged system and you can click begin dc and queue them for repair to speed up the process

Yes just extra crew quarters for flight berths. You will need to check the "keep excess crew quarters" checkbox on the class design screen for the carrier to be able to add them.

About the only thing to potentially add to that would be extra engineering spaces/damage controls to speed the repair of any damaged fighters that are recovered.

Also some cryo berths for recovery of any life pods, though note that if you do this make sure it is the ship with the cryo berths that picks up the life pods, there is currently no way to transfer survivors/POW's between ships while out in space away from a colony.
