Ah crap, I've made a huge mistake. I was looking at the gas giants in Sol to view their accessibility of sorium when I came across Uranus. The picture didn't really look like Uranus, so I changed it to something that looked kinda like Uranus. Now every time I try to open the System View menu for Sol, the game gets this error

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

and then it crashes with a run-time error basically saying the same thing. What do I do! I may be able to avoid using the System View for Sol from now on, but I'd prefer to fix the problem so I don't have to do that.

Have you tried copying the image of Uranus you want to use in your "Planetjpeg" directory and naming the copy "g12.jpg"?  It might not crash if you give it a valid file of the name it's looking for.

Does that file actually exist?

I mean, I was able to select it from the "Change Image" button in the System View screen so I would assume so. I'm going through the files right now.

I went through the planet image folder. All the files start with a letter and a number (For example, a1, a2, a3... and eventually they change to the next letter in the alphabet and the sequence of numbers begins at 1 again.) With the G series of images though, the files start with "gg1, gg2, gg3, etc.". That could be the problem, considering the error says it's looking for "g12".

Have you tried copying the image of Uranus you want to use in your "Planetjpeg" directory and naming the copy "g12.jpg"?  It might not crash if you give it a valid file of the name it's looking for.

I was going to rename the image I had selected to g12 to see if that'll fix things.

EDIT: Yep! Fixed! It's kinda weird how that is though. Could be an error on the developer's part how he named the files? I dunno.

Probably an oversight when he renamed them yeah

I noticed the image selection is bugged, aurora only remembers the last 3 letters of the selected image, so gg12 becomes g12.
My planet pack has a workaround imbedded into it where the last 3 characters redirects the game towards extra copies of the planets.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Should I be worried if every once in a while I get very short messages appearing in my event log? For example, about 10-20 in-game years before, I got a random message that said something like "0.51 years" and that kind of spooked me. Just now, I got another message and it's literally just "s". The event type for both of them was "Message Continued".

This is a random guess on my part, but am I getting interference from other NPR messages? If not, is this just a bug? I KNOW I'm not the one doing it.
I'll be honest with you.. When i first encountered that i honestly thought the same thing! Was quite spooky and intense!
Then i found out what it really was, and was similarluydisappointed D:

So apparently old ships that go way past their maintenance life can EXPLODE. And apparently, life pods for the crew will be deployed. Unfortunately, I did not notice the life pods and about half a month later I get a notification saying that the crew died in their pods. Oops. Sorry to the five crewmembers of that one fighter. Rip in paprika.

Which makes me curious. What does it matter if you lose just five men? When you build a ship, does it actually take away that amount from your population? If so, (not to sound awful) why should I bother saving those five men?

You'll make a fine admiral in his Emperor's Imperial Navy.

Five men must'nt stand in my way to domination of the enemy on the frontier of space! They were all lowly conscripts anyway, so their replacements are likely already here, and there's 2.5 billion more where they came from!

Heh :P
