You need more anti-missile defense. Your current setup can't even take care of the launches from itself: you'll probably get two launches of 2 against each salvo, maybe 3, and with a ~26% chance to hit that means only one or two missiles destroyed per incoming salvo, when you're firing salvos of 4.

Yeah, the plan was for the ships to be escorted by dedicated PD variants. I just never made any.

Still really early in this game, and started with 50 mil pop, so my production output is still remarkably low. I just wanted to see if I could kill the precursor ship, and I did, I just didn't realize he had 5 buddies haha. Will be years before I have enough of an offensive force to take on the remaining 5 ships. I'm just starting to grow my first colony. The site I found has 150 alien installations, so that will be a boost as I recover them. It also has a complex that grants a research boost, so I'm going to be moving all my labs there as soon as I get enough pop there to run them.

My civilization is still using the initial 120,000 research points, I haven't even completed another research project yet haha.

Might want to wait on moving into your new home until after the alien installations are given the "All Clear".

I have a large troop contingent there already and have a colony started. If the robots attack I should be able to fight them off. I won't be moving my labs there until its clear though.

Does anyone know what priority population gives to things like working mines, operating construction factories, etc? I see worker shortages on newly-settled colonies sometimes but don't know what that actually means.

I think everything slows down to equal the shortage, so if you have a total of 23% overall worker, everything will work at 72%, i think not sure been a few year i have last played.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

At one point in my game I could no longer end my turns, clicking on 30 days just kept skipping a few seconds. What causes this?

Do you have the event window up? If it's not showing anything, it probably means an NPR somewhere has gotten into a fight. I'd suggest setting your computer to run auto 30 second turns and doing something else for an hour.

Click the 'auto' button right by the turn select, and it'll keep progressing until certain events arrive (it won't stop for officer updates, but it will stop for research complete, for instance).  There's NPRs fighting where you can't see them, and until they resolve their fight it'll keep on short turns.  The obvious solution to this is to remove NPRs.  By force.

Is there requirement for the shipping company to start making ships? I mean i can make my own cargo and such but the shipping line just doesnt seem to do anything at all, i have mining module, sorium, cargo everything they should want to use but they arent doing anything, i keep giving them funds but even after 10 years there is nothing happening....

EDIT: FFS.... and the next turn i take after making this post they launch their first ship..... Frigging murphy and you know... his law...

Civilian shipping starts when they have something to ship to. You have to have at least two colonies with some combination of people and infrastructure, and then they'll start building ships.

Steve current campaign is going someplace neat. If the Common Wealth does form a unified nation, they'll just outclass all the other powers.

I've finally started on the imperium of man. The Campaign dawns after the unification of earth and mars, the lunar cult of Selene holds onto the gene tech centres needed for massive ground force training. Invasion using conventional tech is the only option. They have lasers and PDCs, but the emperor has the last of his thunder warriors, soon to be launched through space in the trial by fire which will make them the first of the legendary space marines.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

do I need bigger cargo holds, or is it not possible to transfer construction factories to other planets? I colonized Mars, but it can't build anything. And I have no way to send buildings to it, and don't see a research for bigger cargo holds (just the standard ones my freighters use). Or, is it simply needing to wait until Mars has been terraformed?

How many holds do you have in your freighters? As I recall, construction factories are fairly large and need freighters with at least 5 holds.
