Well, yes, but that only works if they feel like sharing it. Some people don't.

Quote from: Phantom
Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.
Quote from: Ze Spy
Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

So I haven't played this back in 2011. Does it still shove a bunch of crap in my System32 folder? I had a hard time uninstalling it because of that. Also can you change the window sizes yet? I'm using my laptop and I'm pretty sure 1366 X 768 isn't big enough.
Look at Flying Dice's sig, she's got the stuff you need to resize windows.
I didn't notice that. But does it still install a bunch of files in my Sys32 folder?

I think the usual way to install Aurora is to click that button that doesn't replace files in sys32. Or just use the fanmade standalone version, I guess.

It also still messes up the color of Firefox dropdown menu text from time to time. By changing it to literally the worst shade of yellow ever devised. :x

Ugh. Just got an empty system with TEN jump points on it. So it's gonna be a gigantic pain to not only secure the the points due to a complete lack of any objects to station listening posts on, it's also going to be HELL arranging in a visually appealing manner on the galactic map.
In fact, this is just a ridiculous amount of empty systems immediately adjacent to my planet colony.

Capital colony is on Manuev Vuarr.
So in terms of creating PDCs and permanent listening posts and all that, i'd need to secure TWELVE different systems. TWELVE
And even still, there's a nasty risk of someone wormholing a new jump point into any of those empty systems and into the capital colony a well. Jees.
Also i'm not sure where that jump gate on Epsilon Indi came from, it was just there when i got there, i'm guessing an NPR did it.
The strange thing is though that the 0 colony cost planet that was there didn't have any colonies on it, so i guess i'm taking over.

As an aside, i have naught but three crummy PDCs on my home planet because i don't exactly have tech that can stand up as "military worthy" yet, i'll need to research some more i guess. This is going to be a long game.

If you're super-OCD like me, you could use SysPos -> Line Up to do something like this.

Spoiler: THEY HAVE TO BE EVEN (click to show/hide)

Well, see, i actually HAVE been doing that. Not exactly in your gridlike format but i'll try that.
And issue poses though that that system has TEN jump points, instead of nine which is more feasible. It's just... too much

Typically my solution is to stick the hub in question way out in the middle of nowhere and let it starburst instead of trying to pack it in around the edges of my existing map, FWIW.

Give up on any idea of securing those systems, just install listioning posts, save the heavy fortification for your homeworld and any more defensible systems you find.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Yes, quite often the only thing you can do is to drop off observation stations on the jump points. If you see contacts that didn't come through one of your watched jump points, you know an NPR has managed to open one from another system. It's usually better to construct/place defences in systems that can actually support them. Also, by having those systems as tripwires, it gives you time to dispatch reinforcements to threatened systems.

Can someone please help me with installation of the newest version? I tried that portable all in one thing and the download is taking FOREVER and keeps getting interrupted. I once got it to work but encountered missing MXO or whatever errors and tried unregistering them as that supposedly words but it said file does not exist or whatever. I'm about to throw my desk across the room. Can someone please help me? This game looks amazing and the fact some crappy installation issues is stopping me from enjoying is driving me nuts.

I just need a very detailed guide, from start to finish, which will result in me having a fully installed 6.4.3 version of Aurora.

Well, how big are your battleships and carriers? How about NPRs'? I have a 60kt Colossus for RP reason, but most battleships are 25kt. My friend has nine 60kt supercarrier as the backbone of his fleet. I saw NPR (not spoilers) use 24kt and 30kt battleships.

I usually don't get to build much larger than 30-40kton heavy cruisers and 40-50k ton light carriers in my campaigns, since I either tend to run out of steam or a new version comes out.

For me it's mostly minerals :|... I never have enough, which slows everything down.

I also tend to explore a ton of systems and then forget what's where or set up repeating mineral drops without even contemplating how long it will take.

I really should play a really slow game some day.
