Thank you Flying dice, our resident Aurora screen resolution problem ambassador.
It's just so ironic that most of the time I see your signature directly underneath or even above any post mentioning a resolution problem.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

It's practically self-perpetuating at this point. Resolution problems are still one of the more common issues, and sometimes it seems like every fourth or fifth post in this thread is mine.  :P

Also, re: Female officers being listed as male: That's an old, old thing. IIRC it's just because whenever commander names are referenced in events they're automatically described as male, and Steve can't be arsed to set things up so that it checks each commander for the appropriate pronoun every time one comes up. Or you can go with headcanon fluff and assume that your empire was historically highly patriarchal, and it lingers in the language used when discussing people in positions of authority.

So, now that Multiple Starting Earth NPRs is a thing, how do I get the game to advance more than 1 second per tic, with all those NPR ships constantly orbiting my homeworld?

I hate it when you get into a game, build a number of things, research some stuff, then the game throws up an error that won't go away (as in, clicking OK won't get rid of it), and closing and restarting it doesn't fix it.

Aurora needs a metric fuckton of bughunting.

Yeah, to be honest it's what always puts me off investing much time into it. A few of the games I've played have just become completely unplayable due to bugs or slow down, and it just destroys me. Is there a list of 'known bugs' anywhere which can help people in avoiding them?

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

The problem is that most of the bugs are not easily replicable prior to the game getting into the state that causes them. Still Steve does fix large numbers of bugs, although they don't usually get noted in the change logs, with there usually being several patches focused on bug fixing after a larger release.

Allowing NPR's to trigger fresh NPR's when exploring is one of the major causes of slowdown. This can be avoided by setting the NPR generation chance to zero and only temporarily changing it up when you explore a jump point.

If you play with Precursor's or Star Swarm enabled NPR's can get into long running fights with them causing slowdown. Playing with Invaders on pretty much dooms you to the slowdown regardless of other factors.

Here's hoping Aurora 2 is still being developed which should reduce the slow-down effects significantly.

If you think it's related, it's probably a good idea to post a bug report over there on the Aurora forums.

6.4 has been released. God have mercy on our souls free time.
Been waiting for this.  The sad thing is, I'll probably hit an infinite error bug and then end up waiting for the next release, again.

Woo let the celebrations begin, one of my favorite games has patched!

EDIT: One thing that I've used in the past to remove the OK checkbox for me is making new TGs where my TGs are and then assigning all the ships in a TG to their respective new TG and deleting the old one.

I assume this is not your problem, but if the checkbox doesn't go away it may be worth a try if you are considering giving up.

EDIT2: Thanks Steve, I'll see if I can find an unreported bug post haste.

If they made commercial engines too you could order Original or Extra-Crispmercial.

A size 10 magazine can hold 10 size 1 missiles or 2 size 5 missiles or 1 size 10 missile, if that's what you're asking.

You are better off just making 1 HS magazines and filling in the number on the ship you want.  One size fits all and all that.  It's kind of cheezy but it's efficient.

Or 20 size 5 magazines can hold a size 100 missile, :P
