I'm guessing that's for an old version, as maintenance supplies are now made using construction facilities on the Industry tab.

So, any awesome updates in the past year? I keep on getting stuck at the "your empire is so large it takes forever to manage resources and queues" part.

Can you make mass drivers in space yet? Because once that happens I'll be able to automate resource collection much easier. Slinging resource packets to a space station depot sitting on the jump point and picking up with cargo ships rather than using a nearby planet/moon/asteroid as the warehouse.

I almost said 'make a swarm of tiny, FTL ships that go from Saturn to Sun in 2 hours', but I remembered the minimum cargo you can carry in a ship is 5000 tons, which makes the ship be at least 5000 tons. Oh well. There's plenty of asteroids anyway.

Nope. Options for stations are still terribly limited, which is rather silly, as the setting Aurora is based on is all about massive defensive networks of jump point fortresses, satellites, and minefields. That's one of the things I'm hoping we'll see change in Aurora 2.

Guess I will have to stick with asteroid depots. It adds a lot of travel time but it does work.

Does anyone else configure the homeworld as the center of all manufacturing? I collect all minerals and return them to sol in a big automated web of cargo freighters.

I generally plan to have a factory world if the distances get too far and I find a world I can reduce to cost 0 but I never really hit that point. I guess if I captured a good alien world with lots of stuff on it I might use that as well but meh, it is just so much easier to put everything through earth because it has such a big population and even late on Sol is still the center because of Luna and Mars generally being easy enough to get to 0 cost that they also have a lot of population.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

Most of my production takes place on earth.  I might have a token amount on planets where I excavate mines or factories.

It's easy to centralize production and then pay for civilian freighters to move stuff around.

Another advantage of this is that you can give earth a manger with high factory production, rather than spreading around a bunch of them all over the place.

Speaking of civilian shipping, are they smarter about shipping things to destinations in other systems now?

They're using Lagrange point jumps now, among other things, IIRC, so yes.

It is what I am using for my video LP right now. The portable Aurora launcher has a version for it so you can use that for ease of use since it sets everything how it needs to be then reverts it when you close Aurora. Anyway as long as when you choose to play conventional you check the no missile bases option or it will infini error you. It may have some stuff later on but I haven't found any yet.

Edit: In other news in a test game I have a new hostile contact was made in my own solar system with a ship of the class "mancrucher" by which I assume they where evenly devide on whether to call it mancruncher or mancrusher. It is from the first system I have gone to and I don't even have a military engine designed let alone a combat ship. Guess it is time for some good old fashion fun.
Edit2: Oh huh, not hostile and they identify themselves as the "Eromanga Commune"
