Seriously though, the Combat Log Porn in Aurora is even more satisfying than in DF, especially if you slip into SM mode to read it from both points of view after a battle is over.

Or building a massive dreadnought that has everything but the kitchen sink. And, as you discover AFTER its five-year construction...fuel tanks. >_<
Or you put the wrong firecontrol and the whole ship sits there useless. Or you forgot to manually turn on actives, or shields
Can't you just redesign the ship and do a quick refit to add the missing parts though?
Yes and no. Yes, you can, but in the case of the fuel tanks, those will add appreciable mass to the design, which often will require you to enlarge the shipyard as well, and it'll drop the top speed which may force you to add an engine or two, it adds crew which may require more crew cabins, more engineering modules....if you tend to have pretty tight tolerances in your designs, as I usually do, it's not so simple. Upgrading and refitting electronics or even weapons is relatively simple by comparison. Chassis refits are a big deal.

refit it to remove the engines, throw in more weapons and just make it a towable defense platform.

Magazine explosions are funnier. One of those gun platforms I mentioned earlier blew to pieces when its magazine failed to eject and exploded with a strength 100 blast.

You don't see Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer being towed, do you? DO YOU?? The other empires will laugh at us!  :'(

Only until you tow it over to their homeworld...

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

sadly you can't quite destroy a world... but with some well placed size 100 missiles you can turn it into a barren radioactive wasteland that nobody will ever be able to colonize for the next few centuries. close enough.

Also don't fit it with actual lasers. They don't really do much through atmosphere.

1. Launch many WHnabsurd missiles at enemy star.
2. SM-delete the system.
3. ????
4. Profit Xenocide!

Or at least as close as you'll get to it.

To be fair, xenocide is a remarkably inefficient route to take, so unless you're doing it for RP reasons enslaving xenos is always the better option.

Nah. People are always complaining about not having enough wealth. Capturing an enemy (home)world mostly intact = ~1.5 billion new taxpayers, plus all their buildings, plus their mineral stockpiles, plus their unmined minerals. Nuking the shit out of them = whatever mineral wealth hasn't been mined out yet. Not to mention that being a multispecies polity opens up new options in colonization without genetic tinkering.

How do you capture a homeworld? I realized my allies are using pressurized water reactors and nuclear thermal engines while I run around with internal confinement fusion drives so I think I found a new business opportunity.
