Mordae's 12x graphics
« on: January 09, 2010, 04:40:01 pm »

This is my version of a 12x12 pack.
Includes tilesets and character set.
Some graphics made by me, but I think most are by others.

Wow, that looks beatiful... I've never seen so much detail in such a small tileset.

I currently prefer my own 12x12 ASCII-based set, but I'll surely give this one a try some time.

[Edith sayeth]: Maybe this thread should go to the modding subforum... I think, that's were tilesets usually belong.

looks good, i'll have to see how it makes my current fort look.

>Edit<

It's a wonderful tile set Mordae. Just a tad small for my liking, 16x16 seems to be my magic number for tiles.

From that screenshot it looks like MayDay + Sphr (my fav. dorfs :3) combined and compressed. Looks nice.

The graphics are mostly from the people who I thanked in the first post.
Here is the tileset though.

Thank you for this.  12 x 12 are thin on the ground.  Mostly I use ASCII mode, but it's nice to have more graphics available if I want to play with those.  :)

I used Photoshop. You should be able to use Gimp as well.
I have included the .psd in the zip file, but Gimp won't open that.

Is there some feature I am not aware of (speaking of transparency)? How is it better than plain old magenta?

I kept running into issues with magenta for some reason. I'm not too sure why. Plus it gave me an excuse to go and practice on picture program instead of 3D.

Transparency was added with d15 or 16, can't remember.
It allows for more flexibility over what you want thing to look like.
So instead of having black as a background in all tiles, you can now add a semi-transparent layer behind the tile that will inherit the color of the tile. Pngs also allow you to mess around with alpha channels and create antialiased tilesets for example.

Also, GIMP will open psd files just fine. GIMP will sleep with any format.
