Finally, something to do with a catsplosion
« on: January 08, 2010, 01:20:58 pm »

Imagine unlimited amounts of kitties all in gladiator and samurai armor.  If this guy's not a legendary metalcrafter, I don't know who is:

Wolfgang Apel, president of the German Society for the Protection of Animals, told Reuters that using dead cats for fuel was outlawed in Germany.

That is a surprisingly specific law.

As long as it doesn't outlaw the useage of live cats as fuel, I'm fine with it.

The fact that it had to be outlawed at all implies... problems.

What kind of situation would you even need cat-fuel for?

I was going to say it was an erstaz fuel developed in desperation in the closing days of WWII, but I think you just shut me down, there.

That actually may be an old Nazi law still on the books.  Those are surprisingly common if you dig deep.  Germany had some fairly severe fuel shortages during WWII, and "wood gas" engines, which can conceivably run on anything flammable, were in wide use with civilians.

I think I remember reading about this; it was a method used to dispose of strays. Denmark was using rabbits.
