weapon heads

I think it would be nice if, instead of forging complete weapons at the forge, you could forge spear/axe/arrow heads. These would then be used by the craftsdwarf's workshop to make weapons. Each metal bar would then be able to make more than one weapon (though you'd need 1 log to complete it, except for arrows).

In some fortresses, such as those with a lavaforge and very few trees, it would be much appreciated to still be able to make weapons purely out of metal. If they ever switched to the weapon-head + weapon-haft system, I would hope you could build the hafts out of more than just wood.

Pure-wood weapons would be appreciated too though. Weak wooden swords and such to allow for safe practicing, with the benefit that they'd only be used for practice and military dwarves would keep a good, metal weapon on hand to switch to when they're fighting for real.

Yeah, it's a bit offtopic, but it WOULD be nice if you could keep a weapon rack in the barracks and keep wooden weaponry for sparring inside of it.

Wooden spears and clubs seem reasonable.
