Torva Vis, to The Hollow One:
"For what do you protect the guardian of the seas? Do you seek to anger me? Is that it? Do you wish to see me angered?
Very well. You shall feel my wrath."
Torva Vis went to Torva Nemus, and spoke to him. Grow to the lands of the shadow army, he said. Make the son of nothing suffer the extent of your wrath. So Torva Nemus halted the slow southwards expansion of Torva Silva, and instead sent it east, to where dark clouds marked the lands destroyed by the Darklings. The forest grew slowly, but it would not stop until the corpse of the Hollow Prince hung from its branches, and his army was nothing but some interesting remains beneath a layer of leafmold.
In the mountain city of Tyrhus lives a man named Oko. He has just killed his brother Hamon, the king of Tyrhus. He has taken Hamon's wife, and has had his children executed. Unfortunately for Oko, the servant who was instructed to kill Hamon's most recent son was one of them emotional lady types, and thus, instead of killing the baby, she put him in a basket and set him afloat on the river Ul.
Fortunately for Oko, the river Ul flows straight through Torva Silva, of which it is well known that no man comes out alive.
Unfortunately for Oko, what is well known is wrong. No civilized man comes out alive. And a newborn baby, barely a month old, is not civilized.
Fortunately, the forest is inhabited by many creatures who don't care about that.
Unfortunately, the baby was found by a wolverine which had just had a miscarriage. It is inevitable that the wolverine decided to raise the mewling baby as its own.
Fortunately, when at one year old the baby was still a useless mewling lump, the wolverine gave up in disgust.
Unfortunately, Torva Nemus heard the baby's cries, and took pity on it, protecting it until it was old enough to hunt for itself, and giving it claws and fur and sharp teeth so that it could hunt.
Fortunately, the baby, who is now a teenage boy, has no idea of his heritage, or even that other humans exist. He roams Torva Silva alone, living a happy, simple life. So Oko will be fine. Until his son decides to poison him. But who cares about that.
The point is... I forget. Wait, yes. I remember. The point is, a wild human boy is running about Torva Silva. Torva Vis has not yet noticed him, but he will. And said boy shall be cause for a great deal of grief for all of civilization. Probably.
Torva Vis metaphorically grumbled. The thing in the sea was irritating. He would have to change his plans completely. But he would come up with something. Soon. Soonish.
