Only if you want red dye. They are quite useless at the moment if you want different colors.

I am currently working on breeding some of my captive elves for this purpose. I am trying to make group 1 bleed magenta, group 2 yellow, and group 3 cyan. Then I can mix any dye I want

There are some good elves I'll admit.  The ones that bring cages full of tame Elephants, hippoes, bears and other such beasties on the back of their mules, because it's so amusing how they profess kindness to animals yet at the same time sell animal slaves to dwarves (who will likely kill them or chain them for the rest of their lives to the front door) on the backs of poor pathetic mules likely half the size or less of what they are carrying.  Those elves are allright.  That kind of travel arrangement just seems uncannily dwarven.

Most of them however are tree hugging, pansies that are only good for deathtrap testing and bonecarving.  And I would happily send my hammerer to give a beating to anyone who says otherwise!  As soon as he manages to get past the wall that replaced the door to his rooms.

Actually, the only elves that live underground are the drow, who are in fact not dwarves, but rather totally awesome.  The only similarities between the two are that both kill normal elves, and are awesome.  And live underground.
