I have a magma man in my magma pipe. The imps have been slaughtered, but this guy just hangs out at the bottom. I read through its raw entry, and I WANT IT. AS A CIV MEMBER. Maybe in charge of one of my champion squads. An even more overpowered attack than the carp's bite? I can't resist that. My fortress employing a being of pure magma to smite seiges? Better than just the magma.

So... How do I add it to my ranks? Do I need to add CAN_CIV to its raw entry?

As far as I know you can't control multipul civs at once, you could capture it in a cage and use it as a "pilbox" with fortifications and flood gates to prevent it seeing your dwarfs when a seige is not happening.
I believe the can_civ tag allows them to, at worldgen build civilizations. However, I do not know this for sure.
