What about courtiers?

Marshall or spy master would be nice.

awesome child, I'll take it. he will never inherit probably, but he will become a brilliant ruler and I am sure that the main dynasty will grant him titles.

Andrea claimed Henrik.

Also, last night ended up being last night a friend was in town before going back to the other side of the country, so I ended going out instead of playing much... So I only got like one or two years done with save...

First update:
I am sorry if it is not nearly as detailed as my LP updates but I'd rather not spend the time:-)

Lubeck is a free land north of Germany
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We currently practice Semisalic Primogeniture, Traditional Custom, and Ecclastical Balance
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our technologies:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Me:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I am 27 with no son. but at least I have a little brother.

My dad:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Sure, he is dead, but knowing him may shed light on how I turn out...

My brother (Claimed by Andrea):
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I currently have claims on Mecklemburg, Rostock, and Mechlenburg (duchy). None of these really matter at the moment because they are all in pagan hands.

I am Vengeful, Proud, Reckless, and a Martial Cleric.

Time to rule!
First order of business is getting married and initializing my court. As 1067 swings around several courtiers join me
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I place them in their best suited jobs.

Annnnd naturally some guy wants to take my steward away
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
should I refuse, I will keep a steward... should I accept I stop getting pestered... I accept.

Next, get married:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
she looks good! I send my application of marriage to her Count.

While waiting for a response I accept an offer of alliance from a powerful neighbor
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I will sleep better tonight...

Damn
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh great... the Pope is asking things of me
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Basically I have to either pay 100 gold, pay 50 gold, or pay nothing. ... I pay nothing.
Oh... and now I'm skeptical...

As 1067 is about to close I have to deal with religious tensions (Lubeck is a pagan province...)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I take a risk and try to crush the local pagans... I have a small (40%) chance of converting the province as a result... Unfortunately that small chance is offset by a large chance the province goes in revolt and a 100% chance the province suffers from the looted effect...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Looted, revolting, and still pagan:-/ I suppose I made a huge mistake...

Doh! I make another mistake and suffer a crippling leg wound while energetically trying to tame a stallion
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A new potential wife catches my eye
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
this time things go better
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I can take the duty and get all of 1.62 gold or refuse the duty and gain all of 3 prestige... whoopie... I take the prestige.

At least now my court is much better
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Go away revolt!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
while I have gotten rid of the revolt, the province is still looted...

First pregnancy:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Right now Lubeck is very weak
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
111 manpower... ouch. Income is crippled at a third of a gold... ouch. Mecklemburg can field over 2000 men... ouch.
Oh, and did I mention the King of Denmark died or otherwise disappeared ending our alliance not more than a month after it started?... ouch.

By the later part of 1069 Mechlemburg gets involved in war...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
They are now much bigger, but also seem to be having some issues defending themselves...
I wish I had my normal ~1000 man army available right now.

A son!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Little Wlodzimierz Nakonid!
Hooray!

Given the moment of this posting, Wlodzimierz is claimable.

with 100 men? ...i think not :-\

Mecklenburg sees more combat
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Crusade:-/
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I am too small and puny to lose piety for not participating, at least.

Mecklenburg loses the battle
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Damn that Pope!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I appeal the claim. This way I gain 50 prestige rather than lose it by begging... I also risk becoming a heretic and being excommunicated, though...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Luckily all that happens is I lose skeptical..

The first of several court member issues:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I have nothing to spare.

I address pagan problems by buying their happiness
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
it only costs me 0.22 gold:-)

Still waiting for the looted status to wear off...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I send Wlodzimierz to be raised by nannies
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
stewardship skill=good.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With one child safely on his way to adulthood, I create another:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Dangit, they kick me while I'm down
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
to grant them hospitality would cost me 100 gold. No thanks. I send them off...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and become hostile

Woa!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
From left to right... I take the bishop- it will keep the Pope happier and only costs me a few gold.
I refuse to pay the vulture, err- I mean moneylender. It puts the province in revolt, but saves me 100 gold. While the looted status is on, revolt can't hurt much.
And last but most definitely best: a son, Krzeslaw
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Given the moment of this posting, Wlodzimierz is claimable.
As of the moment of this posting, Krzeslaw is claimable.

I am going to wait just a little bit longer to see how those kids turn out before I claim one.

Oh wait, I need to install all the mods I will need before I even think about joining in. Better do that quick  :-[

I've played until 1084 so far but calling quits (with this game, at least) for the night. I will post a catch up update tomorrow during the day. I'll include up to date info on the heirs, too.
So far nothing has gone as planned. I'm maybe doing OK... you'll see what I mean...

I knew you would have had sons... instead of claiming just the brother, can I also make my claim descend through the brother's dynasty through inheritance untill it gets so far that they are no more considered relatives? for example, after my character dies I claim his son; if he has no sons the bloodline dies and I take another character.
Would that be possible? It would be interesting to see what will happen to the brother's family.

I think that would be bad for the way we want this succession game to go.

Also guys, if you have the time when writing up your parts of the game, bonus points if you play it roleplay-like, portraying your characters personality.

actually, for the way we play this game, probably this would mean I never get to play. Well, I'll do claims by hand everytime my character dies.

Andrea, the way I see it you took a gamble at my line failing immediately.
Assuming my son inherits, by the time my son dies, chances are your guy will be dead too- so then you will be free to make a new claim. Remember, only one generation of claims will really ever be active at a time.

Also guys, if you have the time when writing up your parts of the game, bonus points if you play it roleplay-like, portraying your characters personality.
I'd like to, but I have way over extended myself and can't handle that time commitment. So for the sake of not taking forever to complete my turn, I am being brief and to the point with the updates. After my turn, if/when I get another turn, hopefully I'll be able to update with better, more enjoyable content; but for now its just event updates for the sake of progression.

I will still try to keep a parallel bloodline, whose first memeber is that 4 years old genius of intrigue.

sounds good:-)

Also, remember we are in this at least partially for the 'fun' aspect, so if someone is continually getting shafted out of a turn, maybe we can be lenient:-)
