Let us start from Vinden. I'm not quite ready to start all the way down from a count. It also gets us a steady income and prestige, which makes things more exciting faster.

If not, Belgarde is always an option, and we can kick off the game by invading Ragusa once we have the prestige.

I was going to suggest count of Corsica...

Anyhow I'd definitely throw my vote in for count rather than a duke, even if I won't be playing.

I agree with andrea, but I doubt I'll actually participate. I've never had the patience to deal with screenshots and such, but it's possible that I'll participate somewhere down the line of succession.
I don't think screenshots are necessary, much less so at great frequency. A few would be nice, maybe to show important people and/or places. And I doubt it would be necessary to even report all events, just the big ones.
The only reporting I think truly important would be at least a quick update on the state of the realm and maybe a brief summary of how it got there during your reign- otherwise the next player can figure out most everything on his/her own just by looking at the save themselves.
True, but I feel that screenshots make the story much more immersive. I still may participate, of course, with or without screenshots. I find it best as a story to simply play the character with all his flaws and don't see that being very easily shown without many screenshots.
(teleporting your troops home by disbanding them, to name one fresh in memory.)

Personally I recommend either a count in northern germany near the pagans or an angry anglosaxon count in england (if we do 1066).

Is there a way I can turn this thread into a poll?
Then I can list all the suggested starting titles and we can vote...?

Also, I have just assumed we'd do start year 1066, but feel free to suggest otherwise.

So far I've seen suggestions of:
Vinden (I am not familiar with this location, unless you mean Vidin, then I am)
Belgrade
Corsica (I've never played Corsica, but I'm willing)
Northern German Count (These guys can be good fun for rapid expansion)
Angry Anglo-Saxon Count (This can be lucrative and difficult)
Spain/Southern France (my added option)

I will decide for us that we will play:
Crusader Kings + Deus Vault + 2.1 beta patch + DVIP + DVIP addon + BOPACK
If you need help finding any part, or installing them, or getting them to work, please feel free to ask.
  • Players claim heirs, as such, please provide a good list of the dynasty succession order
  • Each player plays for the length of their character's life as ruler.
  • I'd like as little save scumming as possible, but it can't be enforced- just keep in mind that sure, you can reload to before the battle that severely wounded your leader so that you will probably get to play longer in the name of fun for yourself, or you can appreciate the twist of luck, suck it up, die early, and claim a new heir in the name of fun for us all.
  • There is to be no assassinating claimed heirs- it would probably be good to not assassinate any heirs, but I understand sometimes it becomes very important to do so.
  • the game is only over when the game is over. Again, you could load to before you lost 95% of the realm to rebellious vassals and angry lords- or you could salvage what you can and pass the shattered kingdom on for the sake of fun and challenge.

Screenshots and deep, lengthly updates are nice, but I'd rather get more players at the expense of less detailed updates- so please do not let update issues keep you from playing.

EDIT: forgot to add, difficulty will be Normal/Coward unless I hear good argument for something else

In the bottom right, near the reply button, should be an add poll button.

Is there any way to mod the game so that you can continue playing up to 1936 in CK? That'd be fun.

1914 maybe... they already used aircrafts and primitive tanks, gases, machineguns and such in first world war. we can't play that.

I doubt it is possible... unless the games uses same provinces. which I think it doesn't. but with some big manual work on the save...

I know that, but honestly, playing as a reactionary, feudal monarchy, dealing with pesky succession wars and royal marriages all the way up to the present-day...is far more appealing to me than that trend of pesky "liberalism", with democracy, anti-feudalism, and a irrational dislike of slaughtering heretics and infidels. We can always create new events to simulate technological progress.

Yes, I meant Vindin. My spelling has a habit of being wrong.

I do agree that we should start in 1066.

Also - and I think everyone assumed this from the start - you should be the first to go Goron, and we can lay claims after that.
