Proposal 2 sounds good to me.

How about euthanesia or brain transplants if a player-dwarf becomes permanently bedridden?

[Proposal 0002]

0002.a - Unconscious dwarves can vote. Not because it makes much sense but because not being dead stops them from reentering in a migration wave.

Bomrek: Come on, Urist. We need to know yer vote. Yer dead, do ya want ter respawn now or go back to the end of the migrant list?
Olin: 'E's dead, Bomrek.
Bomrek: A'course 'e's dead. Tha's why we're voting.
Olin: I think 'e twitched a little.
Bomrek: Ah, in that case, 'e's not dead, so 'e can't vote to respawn. Problem solved. Come'on Olin, let's go get a drink.
Olin: Comin' boss!

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!  ;D

Quote
0002.b - Dead dwarves can choose to instantly respawn as a currently unclaimed (not taken by a player) dwarf instead of waiting for the next wave.

Well, that would suck for new people, but only if we keep getting founders offed. I'll agree to this.

Quote
0002.c - Players get to choose dwarf from a migration wave in list order. So, if a wave comes first with two cheesemakers and an armorsmith, SoulSpeared can get the armosmith and tyl110 and addictgamer can start looking for milk.

^This. Love this. Vote +1.

Quote
0002.d - Entering the army is voluntary. Any dwarf can simply state "I want to become a recruit". (I was thinking of the cheesemaker situation and the will to die for the cause).

Um, no. I submit that all dwarves are required upon receipt of full citizenship (IE, adulthood) to register for the selective service. In the event of an emergency, dwarves nearby threats can be drafted. The dwarf in question may appeal the draft, and the drafting may be overturned by a 3/5ths vote. However, another dwarf must be chosen, by the currently drafted dwarf, to replace him. This choice must be made before the appeal vote begins.

I love tantrum spirals.  ;D

Edit: Upon reflection, we do need a strong military. I submit that the above only be used during true emergencies. (Such as when all the military types are "Getting a drink, Boss!") Any dwarf may volunteer for a permanent military position.

I vote for proposition 2 as is, and propose we start now instead of waiting for a larger waiting list. We don't need every dwarf claimed.

Ok, I'll then have to find out what skills to give each player, and what names.

I also want to know the final embark list before I begin playing.

Let's see, if my fingers aren't deceiving me, we've got enough registered voters to make this happen.

1. Thanshin - mechanic5, appraiser2, record keeper1, negotiator1, judge of intent1
2. Curris - fisher3/engraver3/swimmer2/architect1/comedian1
3. Arrkhal - grower4/brewer3/cook3
4. Quinntan - miner5/mason5
5. 100killer9 - woodcutter5/axedwarf5
6. Rickvoid - carpenter5/bone carver5 and unskilled miner
7. Spartan117 - miner4/mason4/stonecrafter2

think a mechanic/broker would round out the party nicely, but Thanshin's skills will be up to him.

First order of business should probably be to get everyone's exact skill values set in stone.  Then elect a mayor.  Then draft up and vote on a constitution.

I've added my skills and set the others (those who said ranges). We have two masons; I don't know if that bothers you.

We still need to elect the Mayor!
Here's the skill list.

And, is the embark items list posted a while ago the one we will definitely be using?
Me adding a bit with the extra points I have?

Looking at the votes, Proposal 1 was accepted, but with 2 wardogs and three dogs as the animals. Also, an axe.

This sounds delightful. Sign me up for the first migration wave.

I still think that the whole fortress should be flooded with magma the moment you try dividing by zero.

Again, all I need is the "go ahead" and I'll start.

Everyone ready then?

Permission to proceed?
