Hmm...

I'll have to check the second one for sand.

Or I could regen the world with new properties to ensure all the fun stuff + sand.

Tomorrow I'll check, or tonight if I'm not lazy.

Sand would be interesting, taking into account we won't systematically execute nobles.

None have sand...

Will do a regen until I get the perfect world.

What are we considering a perfect world? Also, should we wait for the new version? I have a feeling that when it comes out this is going to die.

P.S. Sorry for this but captain is spelled captain not captian.

1. Aquifer, sand, trees, (river), magma pipe, (magma pool), underwater river, (underwater pool), the scariest biomes, (all biomes), flux, bottomless pit, (2 chasms), 1 chasm, hfs, gcs, (bottomless pit).

That's what I want. (this stuff I want, but not needed for perfectness)
IDK what everyone else wants.
I think some one should gen the world and location to have all the stuff we want. And then actually start it with the correct jobs that are wanted. Then they save and upload and I will begin the actual playing.
What do you think?

2. I want to wait for the new version.

3. Sorry for what?
Are you pointing out my error? I believe I wanted my dwarf named Capitan Coder.
(Don't worry about me getting upset or anything about you pointing out an error I made. In fact, please do point them out.)

The only things I want are a magma pipe, clowns, aboveground river (though if we're playing with an aquifer, a river isn't necessary), sand, and flux.

Alright cool, some people get pissed when people point out grammatical/spelling errors of others. I was also referring to the little signature thing under your avatar. It's spelled wrong there too.

I too would like to wait until the new version. However, if we wait for the new version, isn't genning worlds now kinda pointless? They wont be compatible with the new version and who knows how much worldgen is going to change.

1. Oh, that.

2. Who said genning now? Waiting until the new version was directed at me genning it and starting playing, right?
At least I understood it like that.

I vote we use the current version. We don't know how long it will be before Toady releases the new one, and I'd rather not see this die in the meantime.

Every currently running community and succession game is going to temporarily die when the new version hits anyway, we can always ressurect it later.

TL;DR: Drill here, Drill now.

Even while I wouldn't mind waiting for the new edition (and I think one reason is that it makes me feel like it was closer) I also think it might be a good idea to start a game just to try the democracy rules and settle a basic simple constitution.

Kind of a training fort which could simply be left once the new release comes. That way, we'd start the real fort with some knowledge of what could be corrected in the way of organizing the voting method.

Yeah, current version.  Don't let an impending release keep you from doing fun stuff now.  People were telling me back in September "hey, you may not want to bother modding in all the Fun stuff you want, because there's a new version due out soon."  Not that I'm knocking Toady's progress or anything.  I'm knocking the people here who don't like Fun.

And besides, it's not like people playing the new version would be especially stop them from voting on stuff.  Especially since 3D40d is the version we all know, love, and are comfortable with.  The new one is likely to be too much Fun to do an extended community game with, until we all know what we're doing.

1. Ok, a vote for continue.
The only ones truly effected are the mayors...So, you have a point.

2. Everyone else, please do voice your opinions. We would all like to start soon.

I say we should start now. If the update is out in a couple of weeks, we can start a new fort. Like Thanshin said, this'll be good practice, if nothing else.

IF we are to start now, some one will need to gen the world and embark to the correct site with the correct professions.
Must have: magma PIPE
underground RIVER
hfs
sand
flux
at least some trees
chasm(s)

I can play map sizes up to 10 x 10.
Preferably use a smaller size, like 7x7 or smaller, so that other mayors can play it on their pc's.

Does that look good?
