There's a mountain chain in the middle, with 2 forest on either sides.
So, there is enough wood, just like in any normal game I play.

BTW, I have chopped down a huge plain filled with wood and the elves didn't complain.
I never managed to get the elves to complain *yet*.

50 is too much meat?  I always take 80-100 meats.

Anyway, fewer logs is okay.  20 sounds like a good number.

And the elves complain based on the number of trees in your stocks, not the number of stumps.  Dumb elves.

They won't even complain about wood that's been used, unless you try to trade it to them.

Entire fort built above ground out of wood? Fine.

Wooden bins, barrels, and cages at the trade depot? Blasphemy.

Idiots.

Anyway, the food suggestion I posted is the normal one I use, so yes. 200 turtles. Ninjas in a half-shell? Turtle power.

Well, my style involves trading meat away, and I only get turtles for shells…
Wood, I never bring that.
 I always chop down the forest for it…And I always have enough.

Now, I do run out of metal fast, so I have to be very careful on how I use it.



Anyway, we have 3 votes or so for 20 wood?

Start with 20 logs only, not 50.
Then I can spend the rest of the points as I wish.

What are you spending so many points in?

The 50 wood was because it's DigDeeper and you can embark in a place where you'll have 5 minutes to dig and completely block the entrance or die to a horde of green slimes.

About the meat, I just embark with a lot of food.

However, I must admit I took those decisions because I felt there were more than enough points for everything. Where else are you planning to spend the 750+ extra points? A horde of goats for meat and leather?

Anyway, having stated my thoughts, I don't really have a problem with lowering the wood to 20. Even if I feel the woodcutter will die really fast.

Even if we should wait for the first pause and screen cap of the embark to start proposing strategy, I'll start with a simple proposal.

I suggest we modify the rule of always letting permanent access to the merchants to let The Mayor lock us up for the first season or the time it takes to build a raising bridge, whichever is shorter.

There was less than a hundred points if I chose only 20 wood.
I only brought some barrels. Why? Because I have never in a single game ever made the correct amount of barrels and this always led to my fort dying.

About wood: I can just wall off a courtyard where trees can grow and so can plants to be gathered.
Anyway, can I start? We have a 6/7 for [Proposal 3]

Proposal 4, IDK, what do you mean exactly?

BTW, out of the 10 or so dig deeper forts I have played, 9/10 I survived in the first year. Second year I survived in 6/9. Third year I survived with 6/6. 4'th: 5/6. 5'th: I got bored of playing.

What Are the odds then That I'll make it to year 5? 50% chance.

So, what are the save scumming rules if I happen to lose the fort?
