I can start tonight, but IDK how much I'll get done, since I have some other things I must do first.

Is 3 votes enough to start? Or must we get at least 4 to proceed?

Sorry, the search failed...
It found a map WITH high drain, but it skipped flux and magma in the process.

Will try searching with other parameters...

If we drop the flux and the high drainage, I have a 7X7 area (can be expanded for more chasm) that would fit the bill. We don't really need to make our own steel anyway. The Orcs provide plenty.

This means that we need to pay attention to scavenging techniques as it's unsafe to claim items from an active warzone. If the scavengers are delayed another siege might begin and wipe out part of the collectors left "outside". The solution could be some sort of bridge system which redirects the orc hordes into another entrance cave/ambush while the other is being safely scavenged.

We can create an orc trap that lets them in, closes all entrances, kills the orcs, lets dwarves enter to take the remains, and reopens to the exterior to let more orcs in.

The last two times I tried that with dig deeper my entire fortress of seven dwarves died; once because the water took too long to enclose the orcs and once because the lasher and another orc manage to enter just as the bridge was raising.

But I'm confident our mighty Mayor will do it right.

As long as we remember the first orc siege in DigDeeper can come so soon they're already there when we embark, waiting for us.

We never needed or wanted high drainage...We only set it to find the location.

But, does your spot have sand and trees?
And soil?


Also, when you found your spot, did you abandon then upload?
If so, the only way to find it is to do a reclaim because the finder (in my experience) never shows a place you already abandoned.

[Proposal 0001]

(From now on I propose numbering the proposals in the first line, like I did, so it's easier to vote. )

Items:

No anvil
2 picks
1 axe (or replace with 50 more wood and we'll make one later, I don't care which)
One of each of the cheap meats
50 turtles
150 drinks
10 of each buyable seeds
2 ropes
5 dogs
1 cat
50+ logs

I also propose leaving the rest (after skill distribution) to be freely spent by The Mayor, so he isn't forced out of his personal style. This includes arranging stacks to maximize initial barrels.

THERE'S TOO MUCH MEAT.
Even though it's cheap. Also, logs are 3 points each...So, embarking with only 20 logs may be a better idea.
I also wasn't able to get the 2 war dogs, just 5 regular dogs.
So, can we change the wood t0 only 20?



Ok, I also found a lovely 8 x 8 embark, with flux, river, underground river, pipe, hfs, white sand, trees, mountains...
Sinister surroundings AND calm surroundings.

If we can quickly vote on

Start with 20 logs only, not 50.
Then I can spend the rest of the points as I wish.
