The Legend of the Last Metal - "Searedhammers", community fort

It is the ninety-first year of this world...and already, it has lead itself to doom.

Many years prior, a great war occured. It engulfed every civilization known, and it even lead to an army of Kobolds rising from their caves. During one of the major battles, a foolish dwarf attempted to remove an ancient and valuable adamantine door. Contained within was a passage to the heavens, which was instantly defiled by the dwarf's greed, and pride. As punishment for defiling the home of the gods, all known metal was removed from the earth.Many dwarven smiths and furnace operators began to experiment with common stones, but with no results.

But last year, a new metal was discovered. It was lighter and tougher than steel, and extremely resistant to heat(More so than adamantine, and more common too!) So now, an expedition has been gathered. They are to build a fortress apon the largest deposit of this new ore. Trapped between a wall of mountains and a goblin fortress, here is where they stand. Here is where they strike the earth!

I have been given a rare opportunity. The king has personally requested that i lead the expedition to
Uthirnil, "Searedhammers", in search of one of the largest Omnicine deposits. There are six others who haven't yet introduced themselves, but i'm sure we'll get along just fine...
The nobles have provided us with some expensive omnicine equipment, and i sold one of the axes so that we could spend the money on more useful things.
I should probably ask the others what they would like to bring along, since we have so much extra cash.

2. No metals other than Omnistone and adamantine.

Interesting...

I shall claim a dwarf Tethys, female if there is one(hard to know from just the embark list, need to see personalities to really choose)

Preference on Leatherworking.

Extra items, I'd like one cobalite or olivine block for the leatherworks(3pts). 10 tower cap logs for leather bins(30pts). and since we are so point rich at the start, 20 giant cave spider chitin to get leatherworking started(1000pts). I'd also like to vote for a breeding pair of muskox(302pts), and two cave spider ropes to tie them up with(40pts). Total point cost: 1375. bit pricey, if it's too much, half the chitin. That stuff is spensive.

also I vote we dump the monkey meat for turtles, or better yet, cave lobsters.

Your dwarf is ready, leatherworker/tanner.
Though i seem to have eliminated all the ores in matgloss_stone_minerals, so no colored stone either >_>

Edit:You could have omnistone blocks, which are almost sand-colored, but those are 750 a freaking block.

I'll do either the digging or masonry if possible. :)
But those picks seem expensive!

The item list seems fine to me, though I'm guessing 'regular' dogs would be cheaper than wardogs.
Wardogs shouldn't be so hard to train once we arrive in any case. I'm willing to volunteer for that job in case I have nothing too dig out for a while.

Is it possible to bring along some kittens for food breeding purposes?  :)

Lupus: I sorta don't want to bring more cats, to avoid possible catsplosion. We really only need one.

Mathjis: On the picks, of course they're expensive, they're made out of the last existing metal(next to adamantine) on the planet.

Oh shit, i screwed up bad.
Apon embark, all the omnicine items turned to molten sludge. Apparently DF does not accept melting/boiling temps above 50k. So a new embark site will be found, with similar features. In a new land. Oh well. and Malle, we already have a clerk noble(See: my character)

Thought that Broker and Expedition Leader are two Different Things!

Then some kind of Blacksmithing/Melter so we can process oure precious Ores!
The Anvil can Wait its just too expensive, so let me do some Masons work at the beginning, thats okay? :D

all around metal guy, minus one in metalsmithing and metalcrafting, to be put into mechanics.
