Oceanside site
« on: January 02, 2010, 11:46:52 am »

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I found a great site right next to the ocean with both magma and flux stone. Does anyone want it?

Here's a screen on the world map:

How long would it take to pump magma into the water and replace it all with solid obsidian?

Here's the region data.

The Windy Dimensions

It's a small world, and it also holds an island.

Perhaps you could just upload the world gen info? If you export an image of your map, it'll vomit out a text file with your world gen seed. :)

Either way, fun site, thanks. :D

Oh, OK, one sec, and I'll get the info.

EDIT: Alright, I do not know how to do that, now that the world is already genned.

That doesn't actually give us the world gen info; we need the specific seed number. To get it, go into fortress mode, hit ESC (like you're going to save), scroll down to "Export Local Image," deselect all but one level (selected levels are white, select/deselect with ENTER), then hit the hotkey for Export Image. Now, go into your dwarf fortress file folder and find the text file named something like "Fortname-param-region#-year-somenumber," open it, and copy-paste the gen parameters in it to here. This lets someone else get the exact same world, assuming they have all the same mods as you.

Also, we should know what mods you are using. Dwarf Fortress simulates quite well the butterfly effect, as if a single ore is changed from vein to cluster, the same seed will give different results.

It's vanilla, no sprite-packs, nothing. Just plain ol' DF.
