Okay. Let's see... just Cheddarius is in for now, but I can put you two on the waiting list if you want. I just don't want to get too many people or else it gets really confusing.

Mercenary RTDX Turn 39: The Mission Begins

Takes a bulletproof vest and a cartridge of micro-pistol rounds. Just in case.
+ micropistol
You head into the armory and take a buletproof vest and a micropistol, just in case close-combat comes up.

Name: Cheddarius
Gender: Male
Primary Specialty: Sharpshooting
Secondary Specialty: Artillery Engineering/Repair
Other: Fast; not so tough, but manages to keep a low profile. Never gives up, as long as it's profitable not to.
So, how much would you guess I could carry without being hindered? I know making a whole new encumbrance system would be horrific, but could you take a look at this and see if it's reasonable?

WEAPONS
G.N. Revolver
G.N. Sniper Rifle - 10 CR
Up to 2 free grenades

AMMO
3 boxes 20x .32 Cal ammunition
2 boxes .303 cal 20 round box

OTHER
Tactical vest - 45 CR
Morphine - 40 CR
3 Disinfectant
2 Bandage Packs
2 Compact Medical Brace
2 Medical Sealant
3 Cigarette Packs
3 Nicotine Gum
4 boxes Mints

25 CR left

Sargent Cheddarius, fills out the form to requisition the supplies needed for the mission. The quartermaster looks at you funny while trying to comprehend who's breath could possibly smell so bad that they need 3 packs of gum and 4 boxes of mints, but give them to you anyway.

Hmm...
I'll take:
(2)  G.N. Micropistol
(1) .32 Cal Ammo x20
(2) Disinfectant
(2) Bandage Pack x5
(2) Cigarette Pack

I vote for the infiltration mission. I also have an idea for signaling the attack. Hopefully this will be a night mission; Someone who smokes can make his way to the parapet's of the fort under the guise of a late night smoke break. the signal will be 3 lit cigarettes. Obviously we'll need to arrange which side of the parapets to do this on and have a friendly sniper watching for the signal.

In the mean time I'll
Devise a comfortable way to secure the micropistols to my inner thighs for concealment.

You acquire a small set of micropistols in case you get captured again, and grab some medical supplies just in case.

You're fairly confident that due to their small size, you can hide the micropistols very well.

I will take:
2 Bandage packs
2 medical braces
5x disinfectant
5x Sealant
1x Bullet proof vest.

I will practice shooting with the rifle in the meantime

You also acquire your chosen arsenal.

I suppose, since everyone is making a list, I should combine my requests into one:

I will take:
6x Frag Grenades (and any team grenades remaining)
1x G.N. Revolver
1x .32 Cal Ammo Cartons
1x Bullet-Proof Vest
2x Disinfectant
1x Medical sealant

Team Mortar and Shells
(to be given to thestefan when he shows)
Same.

My wishlist:

1x Micropistol
1x Cigarette Pack
5x Mints
1x Bandage Pack x5
1x Disinfectant
2x Frag Grenade

Other than that, yeah, I am not partial to any plan this time.
Same.
t
Sounds good. and Yeah, I'll take control of the mortar. I'm good with blowing stuff up. and brawling. Oh yeah.
Frelock hands you the mortar.

[undetermined amount of time passes]

Your 7-man squad sits in a spot of cover outside of Fort Ember. The main army, consisting of 3 platoons of 20 men each with minor artillery support, is about 6 hours behind you. It is dusk, but the air is still very warm from the summer sun. (Derm 12+2) From your cover you watch the guards on top of the fort. There are 8 of them patrolling. (Cheddarius 4) You are distracted by fireflies. (Alexi 16) You notice 4 shadowy shapes on top of each battlement... looks like guns... cannons? But they're smaller... You confidently conclude that they must be anti-artillery weapons.

Derm: +4 to Observation
Alexi: +6 to Observation

Leave 3 of the mortar shells with Rodrick, then rig the last two into a make-shift bomb.  Give bomb to whomever wants to sneak up to the wall, and give them instructions on how to place it for maximum damage.

So I assume that we are going the brute force approach?

Suggest that they spread the artillery all around the front.
Take a smoke. and keep my eyes trained on the castle.

The artillery is still 6 hours away.  We're on our own till then.

Ah. So were sneaking in? I don't know any other reason to not be with the main army. If we strike now, they will just be on high alert.

UNLESS I CAN SNIPE THEM ALL IN ONE TURN! WHICH WON'T HAPPEN!

I think a sneaking brute-force approach would be best.  ie, we lay out all the groundwork for the attack now; explosives on the walls, getting good lines of fire, precisely calculating artillery angles.  Then, we attack at dawn when the rest of the army gets here.

I walk away far enough that my shots will not be heard, then practice shooting at trees/animals
Are you guys okay with this? I doubt I can actually do any sneaking here.

You're going to walking a loooooong way.

And yes, this is just a chance to make preparations. If you guys want, we can fast-forward to the rest of the army arriving. Otherwise, you have 4-5 turns to prepare.

Pffft, fine.
I construct a high explosive grenade out of cigarettes, mints, and a pack of gum.
I keep watch over whoever is sneaking up, and if a firefight starts, shoot at the enemies.

We still have out handsets right?
Is there any cover between us and the fort (Bushes, tall grass, rocks, etc.)?
Also which direction is the army coming from?

I'll take the bomb and plant it on the opposite side of the fort from the army's direction of approach. I'll need Derm or someone with a Scope/Binoculars to radio me the patrols positions so I can move without being seen.

If no one has objections that will be my next action, as Frelock still needs to make the bomb. For now, I'll scout out the area to find suitable cover locations.

Stick with the main group and give an inspiring speech to prepare us for the battle.

Yes.
(Dark) Green Blotches are bushes, with occasional clumps of trees.
Army coming from the north. Well,
