The True Adventures of _____________
« on: January 01, 2010, 06:27:32 pm »

So I had this idea to illustrate some hilarious moments in my various adventure mode quests. And lets face it, there isn't much in adventure mode that isn't hilarious in the right context. Take for example this simple encounter between Ilre Asnatiquo and a common woodland creature:

This comic courtesy of Google Images and liberal use of the Paint.Net lasso tool. Not endorsed by Gene Simmons or any other member of KISS. No actual grizzly bears were harmed in the making of this comic.

Note to Mods: I wasn't sure if this belonged in Stories or Here, since it is adventure mode specific and isn't exactly a story. Feel free to move it.

That was interesting. I can say I got a few chuckles out of it.

Was killing carp in a terrifying river (55 carp, 7 pike and 6 longnose gar to be exact) and a harpy must have gotten hungry and went for a meal.  Needless to say the outcome was not unexpected.

I havent seen the "Is torn to peices" or "Cut away from the rest of the torso" messages before, mod?

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

"Torn to pieces" is a gore damage message, while "cut away" is a fatal slash damage message (I think)

Yeah, torn to pieces is if a gore attack inflicts a killing blow, but doesn't sever.  Cut away from the rest of the torso is the same thing but for slashing.

They're not as common because most deaths in DF are due to bleeding out/severs.
