There is a comment over it stating "distribution of IQ in 203 patients with autism (75% with mental retardation)"

The indigo thing has been around for a while, and its just a silly excuse for attention starved parents to say their child "came from the stars and has such immense level of intelligence that we can't possibly understand it" rather then just admitting he/she has autism. Its pretty sad.

I once read an excerpt from a book about idigos that they avoid talking to anyone or resfuse to answer to you or parents because they're busy talking telephatically, and that they act all bossy around other people (family members or otherwise) because they come to this world from a superior level of existence as a figure of authority and expect to be treated as such. I shit you not.

Those adults who resist change and who value conformity may misunderstand the Indigos. They are often mislabeled with psychiatric diagnoses of Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Sadly, when they are medicated, the Indigos often lose their beautiful sensitivity, spiritual gifts and warrior energy..........In contrast, the Crystal Children are blissful and even-tempered. Sure, they may have tantrums occasionally, but these children are largely forgiving and easy-going. The Crystals are the generation who benefit from the Indigos trailblazing. First, the Indigo Children lead with a machete, cutting down anything that lacks integrity. Then the Crystal Children follow the cleared path, into a safer and more secure world.

"Mrs Smith, Your son's grades are below average, I'm afraid he has a learning disability, he also refuses to interact peacefully with his classmates, if at all."

"Oh dear! He must be a superior being from another dimension!"

It goes pretty much like that. What makes it even worse (and funnier at the same time) its that its not a one person thing, there's a whole goddamn community build around this.

I think you guys are taking this too literally on another level:

Honestly, I don't respect this sort of thing and suspect it was started by someone who lives in a trailer full of cats and LSD. There are some blatant scientific wrongs here, among visible social inadequacies.

In other words, it's like you're taking some kid who insists his Start Trek story 'actually happened to me, I'm not kidding!' and instead of pointing out that Star Trek isn't real for a myriad of reasons are saying that, silly, everyone knows Klingons didn't have forehead ridges in the original series!

No offense or anything. Just read Dakk's post if you want the more polite version. :)

So, let me get this straight. This dude is apparently saying autistic kids can travel through time and are aliens?

Hey, I'm mildly autistic and I consistently get my IQ measured at over 130. It's hard to say what autism is.. it's kind of seeing the world in a different way. While everyone tries to fit in, the autistic kid just doesn't see how or why they should act like everyone else. I mean, heck, as a kid, I used to eat tin cans, stomp on random people's feet, etc.

But hey, some people claim that autistic people are savants because they can see things as they are. You know, the whole seeing the trees without seeing the forest. Personally, I think it's more that the social outcastism makes an autistic kid more likely to take risks, since they have nothing to lose. IMHO, it's no more a bonus than saying that AIDS makes you appreciate life more.

Anyway, I'd have to agree with what Dakk said.

I'm going to lock this thread because some of the posts were offensive to the mentally disabled and their relatives.  I was getting moderator reports and I don't think it would end well if I let it go.
