1. Dwarf Fortress
2. Homeworld (A true classic, but DF just feels #1 to me)
3. Mass Effect
4. Sins of a Solar Empire (lower rating since I rarely play it, most of my friends don't have it)
5. Monster Truck Madness 2 (Long story short: One of the first games I ever played as a youngster. Designed tracks for it and everything. Alas, it hasn't aged well, but it deserves a spot on my list for old times sake)

I would have voted for X3: Terran Conflict if it was on there, although the entire series is really quite good. In retrospect I could've probably voted for Reunion in its place.
Much like DF, the series has a rather decent learning curve hiding a truly, truly immersive game. And I've already noticed a few of their members have taken notice of DF, as I'm sure more than a few of the locals here have noticed the X-Series. :P
Not to mention their massive scripting/modding community.
Considering how much time I've spent on it lately (must... build... more... complexes), it easily would have been #1 for me.

And as Shadowlord said, I also would've put up Sword of the Stars if it was available. A really well done 4X game. But again, need to actually know some other people who have it.

1: dwarf Fortress (Seriously deserves a spot in the (heh!) spotlight!)
2: Morrowind (For awesome modability)
3: Left 4 Dead ("Khamero has startled the witch!")
4: The Sims 3 (I'm a bit of a sucker for the sims sometimes...)
5: Civilization IV (Should have been higher, buuuut...)

Some other games I should have voted for were Soul calibur 2, Portal, Unreal tournament, Dead rising, Simcity 4 and Fable, since I feel that those were somewhat special to me, but alas, cant vote for all of em!

You might think that this is some sort of trap. That I’m using you as bait to lure in your friends. I’m not. I just enjoy torturing innocent, young girls.

I know it’s sick. But everyone needs a hobby.

1. Dwarf Fortress
2. Team Fortress 2 (my real number 1, but DF needs the publicity more)
3. Age of Empires II
4. Bioshock (more for story and setting than gameplay)
5. C&C Red Alert 2

1. Dwarf Fortress
2. Starcon 2: The Ur-Quan Masters
3. UFO: Enemy Unknown (AKA: X-COM)
4. Doom II
5. Age of Empires II

In that order, by a reeeeeeally thin (Atomic-scale) margin. Too bad the list is so short for voting; so many more can fit into that margin.

6. Tie Fighter
7. Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries (I'm happy I'm not the only mechwarrior around these parts. That game had so gorram many mechs to choose from. My preference: Warhawk, modified to be a PPC obliteration mech (8 PPCs (2 sets per hardpoint). 2 Shots puts it immediately over 700°K (Kelvin).), if I'm not mistaken. It was death on legs; either for the victim or the pilot.), with a decent set of clustered lasers for defense; and plenty of heat-sinks.)
8. La-Mulana
9. Unreal Anthology (Tournament '99)
10. Starcraft

1.  Lionheart:  Legacy of the Crusader!*  :P Seriously, though, DF.
2.  Ultima VII
3.  Civilization IV
4.  Europa Universalis III**
5.  Elder Scrolls III:  Morrowind

*Why do they even have this one?  I mean, not a terrible game, but still hardly in the running I'd think.
**If they'd had EU II, I'd have voted for that instead.

My extended list:

6.  Warcraft II (yes, II, not III... call it nostalgia. :P )
7.  The Sims 3
8.  Rise of Nations
9.  Age of Empires II
10.  Sim City 2000 (again, not IV, and again nostalgia)

Believe me, I could go on... especially as I've intentionally not added multiple games in a series (otherwise Civ 2 and Ultima IV would have been in the top 5 as well... well, my unofficial once, since they forgot the latter...)

I'm talking about the bronze colossus. It's supposed to be made entirely of bronze.
But really he's just a softie inside. They all are really. When megabeasts come to your fort you never welcome them inside and give them a hug, do you. You heartless bastards...

Why does it say they'll publish the list in March?  Wasn't this in the Feb issue already?

EDIT:  Stupid me, that was their list, they'll be publishing ours next...

1. DF
2. Civ 4: BTS (I wonder how they judge with 3 different versions to vote)
3. Sims 3
4. Fallout 2
5. Rome: TW
6. Would've picked SimCity 4, but Rome: TW has better longevity.

I don't think DF will win, but it's good enough to deserve a vote, at least because I didn't pay for it :P

Nooooo, there is no starsiege!

:weep:

My list (And DF is damned lucky starsiege wasn't  on there or I wouldn't have had room for it)

My List:
1. Ur-Quan Masters
2. Alpha Centauri
3. X-com
4. Duke Nukem
5. Dwarf Fortress

Should have been 3: Starsiege

Honorable mentions that I wish I could have voted for, but ran out of votes:

Seven Kingdoms
