So, yeah i trade some rhesus totems (reconstructing a humie town, no digging exept for plants) and I got a cat and a leopard, witch is in perfect health, now how do I train it?



EDIT: my plan is to chain it up in my first childdorfs house and assign it to him, I set my init for low population (STILL get the ocasinal migrant tho) and once he comes of age, train him as a marksdorf. (with high stats from social)

Leopard got the [pet] tag. However, traders bring only tamed animals, so you should have no problems.
You only have to tame wild animals you catch in cage traps, to do that you need a kennel, then use "tame large animal". If the wild animal has the [pet_exotic] tag instead of [pet] you need a dungeon master.

I get it, I cant train it as a war animal without moding the rawrs, I already made moles into waranimals.

D'oh sorry, I read "tame" in the OP instead of train.

Yeah, in vanilla DF only dogs are trainable, you need to modify the raws adding the [trainable] tag to them. And they have to be tame to be trained ofc.

I do think other creatures need to be war-trainable.

It would be absurd to make war-cats, but it actually would NOT be absurd to train war-elephants (they exist in real life at least). Well, speaking strictly from a realistic perspective anyway. War-elephant could provide some balance issues, but the basic concept still sticks.
