-Update to DF2010
-Read all the books I want to
-Maintain honours (in high school, no big deal)
-Expand my knowledge of science
-Stop being tired all the time (I am 16, could I still be growing? I think so.)
-Write something that doesn't suck

You may as well start now, winter is great for running. You don't sweat as much, the air is all full of oxygen, and nobody is on the roads. What time were you running before? I ended XC with a 17:52, so I've a lot of work to do. I might be down to 17:30 now, because of my habit of waiting until the last possible minute to go running before it gets dark, then realizing that I have to sprint my entire run to get back by nightfall.

Well, with any luck this last year will be the worst year I ever experience in terms of sheer unhappiness.  I've never been that miserable before, and I really don't intend to be that miserable ever again.

Gotta say, man, I'm probably more than four times happy now than I was at this point last year.  I can remember what was happening these last couple of days and, well... blech.

So, I've got high hopes.

I disagree. At least over here, you'll slip on some ice/loose soil/roots/whatever very often around now, and it's rather hard to run in thick jackets. Not to mention the sun sets in the morning, so you'll have to run in pitch-black darkness.

Wait a second... If you say that last year is year one, and this is year two... your happiness can be represented by the formula

H = Y², where H is happiness and Y is time in years. By next year, your happiness will be 2.25 times its current value, nine times higher than 2010. This is going to be a fun decade for you.

There's a foot of snow on the ground here, and everything is coated in half an inch of ice are more. The high for the past week was 25 degrees Fahrenheit. I ran in long running pants (like gym shorts but longer.), a long sleeve shirt, and a pair of thin gloves. If you run fast enough, you can outrun the cold. Or you can just run faster to get home before frostbite sets in. Run with a headlamp if it's too dark to see.

I stay on the lumpy parts for extra traction. Where I live, there are only 5000 people in town and I normally run outside of town. Nobody wants to mug someone in the freezing cold by driving out an icy country road, especially when the target in question has naught on him but his clothes. I generally avoid murder by avoiding suspicious looking people with knives that are trying to chase me while I run faster than most cyclists around here can go. Running into a forest does wonders for escaping mounted pursuit. In all seriousness though, I've never even been threatened while running. Sometimes I run with a couple friends when it's especially dark out and I'm going into the mountains, but that's mainly for protection from cougars mountain lions.

out of curiosity, what's your running speed?

Depends on the distance, really. Winter cycling goes kind of slow, so maybe that's not a fair comparison. Here are my most recent approximate times for each of these distances.
