Aren't Tipper Gore and Joe Biden also anti-video games?

(I'm not sure - I'm not American, but that's what I've read)

The hardcore ones on each end of the spectrum like to call people in their own party names, when they don't live up to extremely extremist ideals.  Like republicans call Schwarzeneggar a "RINO" (republican in name only).  Dunno what democrats call theirs.  But those guys are generally considered to be "conservative" despite their party affiliation, and from what I've seen, even people who were alive and played Doom in 1993 consider game censorship to be a "conservative" pastime.  Fun stuff, American politics.

Also, staying on topic: men and women of all races are equal in every way.  All clothing is unisex.  Animal abuse is punished the exact same as criminal assault or murder of a fellow dwarf.  The best prison design is one which rehabilitates prisoners and turns them into happy, productive members of society so they stop throwing tantrums.  Hm...

Tipper Gore is ancient news, and I suspect many forum-goers weren't even born the last time she was in the news.  Music was her thing, not games: video games weren't advanced enough for violence to be a concern, just their general-waste-of-time quality.  My opinion is the whole labeling thing she called for was a compromise that put an end to the unseemly sight of artists being summoned up to inquisitorial panels, so I couldn't really join in on the piling-on that happened to her.

Not sure where you got Joe Biden from.  I'm sure he made a populist-sounding speech at some time or another that had some denouncement of "pop culture values", and it was Obama himself who made a "put down the video games" comment.  That's just politicians being who they are.

Being an American, I really advise you don't get your news from American media.

Yeah, point taken.

I probably read it on a blog somewhere, actually, and internalized it as a dimly remembered pseudo-fact. Which doesn't really say much for my critical thinking skills.
