##Update 1## (Click on images for lager versions)

So I am guessing nobody is interested in having a unit named after them. But would naming cities be more appropriate? I can name cities after people that want them.

Spoiler: And so it begins (click to show/hide)
I wish I could have shown you guys the intro video, but Google couldn't find it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The settings that the game is on. There are 6 AI opponents. The "World Spell" is unique to our Civ and gives us a free golden age(Increased commerce and production) anytime in the game. Aggresive AI is just as it sounds. No espionage was required for FFH. And Flexible Difficulty means that the difficulty gets harder as we do better and easier as we flounder.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Our capital city. I passed up on the opportunity to connect it to the sea because I wanted some of the nearby resources.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ok, that was quick. For some reason, the Bannor Civilization was killed 12 turns into the game. My guess is that their scout stirred up barbarians in a nearby tribal village and they quickly lost their only city. I guess I should note here that the early game in FFH2 is very different from that of vanilla Civ4. It is much easier to be screwed by the RNG such as what happened here. Add in the fact that early barbarians are extremely powerful, and you get a very scary world for the first 100 turns. According to the devs it fits in with the dark theme. Something about the indiscriminate destruction that would plague a fantasy world.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Alright, these are our personality traits for now, I have no clue when they will change but the culture bonus will come in handy if we still have it when our 2nd and 3rd cities come up.

So far we have scouts heading East on opposite sides of the lake, and we seem to be up against the Western border. Our capital is adequately defended.

We are researching Animal Husbandry in an attempt to use the cows to the south as fast as possible. After that, I will ask for input on which path to go down.

We have so far met Ethne the White (Elohim) and Hannah the Irin (Lanun). Ethne is to the North and Hannah is to the South.

Our explored area so far.

Ok, since I have never done an LP before, I would like some direction from you guys. Should I take time to explain certain game mechanics to you? Or would you rather I let you guys figure thing out? I guess this game doesn't lend itself to funny stories very well and so that's why I was trying to get units/cities named after people. And criticism is very welcome.

I was playing Fall from Heaven earlier (actually Fall Further, but w/e), and I still found Worker start to be the most effective. Barbs are nasty, but they don't come faster than normal, they just come harder, so make sure you rush Archery. Archers are really, really good.

The next order of business is getting a Settler, 2 or 3 Archers, an Archery Range, and as many Workers as possible before hitting your happiness cap. Any Warriors or Explorers are gravy. Remember, you can't whip your populace (yet), so you're going to have to pay close attention to the pop in your city. Also, you're gonna need a fuckton of Workers.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

How about this? Post a location for a city to be founded, get the city named after you.

Rename Jubilee to Boatmurdered. Dwarven names consisting of a few worlds fit extremely good for crazy Balseraphs.

Go for Octopus Overlords, or Esus if Lanun pick it first.

I'd say, ignore archery as Balseraph. We need Freaks ASAP (axeman UU) and go to Drama after we get festivals + religion.

Balseraph ranged line has nothing special, but melee line is all-unique after warriors (freaks are cool, mimics are goddamn awesome).

##Update 2##(Click on images for larger versions)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
That's what we get for being crazy. We kept the culture bonus but get some upgrades to our units.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
An event occurred where I was given a choice. I could let the harpy live and gain a Great Bard(Great Artist in vanilla), or keep the townsfolk happy by letting them lynch it. I choose the former because I luuurve me some culture. But an unintended consequence is that I set our development back by at least 10 turns because of the resulting unrest.

With the Great Bard, I had a few choices. I could have him instantly research a Technology (Exploration), have him join the city as a specialist, give a one-time culture boost to the city, or start a golden age with him. I choose to add him to the city, giving +3 gold and +12 culture per turn.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Our westernmost scout explored a lair, finding a hidden level. The resulting Great Bard is our second one so early in the game. But since he was so far from my city, I did not feel the hassle and danger of escorting him home was worth the benefits, so I had him discover Exploration on the spot.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Acheron the red dragon is a really powerful barbarian unit that takes residence in a barbarian city. He cannot leave the city but he is a bitch to defeat. When he is defeated, his victor is given vast riches from the hoard that Acheron protects.

You can actually see the city he took residence in, right above the notification. So I wouldn't worry about him much, He's too far away to affect us.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Huzzah! After wowing some primitive natives with our fancy technology, they have agreed that we are deserving of a Settler! The funny thing is that the village was right on Hannah's doorstep. It was successfully escorted to our area and is standing by for orders.

Status:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We have now met Tasunke (Of the Hippus), who is West of Ethne.

We are working on Fishing in order to get Octopus overlords as per Deon's suggestion.

We now, thanks to the village, have two settlers. I will be taking suggestions on where to place the cities.

I'll start having larger updates once I get the hang of this.

Build one city on the square south and west of the corn (should be coastal and very close to Boatmurdered) and the other should be two squares south of the gold, two squares east of the horses (should have the rice in it's borders). Want me to draw a map?

At this rate, you're going to get a cultural victory. Maybe the game's trying to tell you something with all the Great Bards?

I find it funny that our cities name is Boatmurdered and we are going with octopus overlords.

Put a city next to purple. On that treeless hill. Gold and rice for all!

No map necessary.  I'm probably going with your suggestions.

And a cultural victory might be too easy for the Balseraphs. I'd rather go for something else.

You could culture-bomb the city, it removes unrest. Also if I remember right, it was 15 turns. Did they fix it?

Pray not to have Muris goblins event (twice).

Place a city near the mountain and fish tiles! Call it Carpaxis. See how long it takes for our dorfs clowns to be killed by vicious fish!
