Typically the name is the last thing I think of, and they tend not to be very memorable.
Bjorn Darkwyn was a ranger i played in a PBEM, he died rapidly to a skeletal dragon. It was memorable because he died trying to hold the beast off so that the rest of the party fled. They decided not to flee, defeated the thing and had to drag my corpse and 3 unconscious characters out of the dungeon. IIRC the survivors had 3 hp between the two of them. It was ok though, his stats were to high compared to the other characters, the con hit from being resurrected helped bring him back into balance with the party.
Kai (I dont recall the last name) was a "pseudo-asian" fat, bald, middle aged ninja|swordsage gestalt werewolf with the astrologically destined powers of breathing underwater, scrying, bless water and the ability to talk with plants. Don't ask, it was a very over the top campaign with some ridiculously over powered feats with unique abilities based on when your character was born (and that was determined randomly). Was infected with lycanthopy in game, and unable to get a cure in time. Kai was tasked with saving the world and failed, did a bit of time travel participated in the death of a few gods, and somehow retained both his status as royal assassin and an alignment of Lawful Good at the same time. He was also one of the least powerful members of that party.
Justin Case makes a good backup character name.
Gerard Thibedeaux has a nice ring to it, though I have never used it.
