I've been bred by society to believe that I'm not allowed to cry and then all of a sudden I'm told it's ok to cry. As a result, I hold back tears for anything other than severe pain (and even then only a few drops, for manliness)
This , among other behavioral expectations, is one of those things that angers me.
My body doesn't seem to remember how to cry and it really sucks sometimes.
...apparent effects?
This seems like an appropriate thread for this link. I didn't see it linked earlier, so forgive me if it was and i missed it.
That is ****ed up. Worse for how reasonably it's written. Thankfully, not applicable to self.

The Iron Giant gets me every time.

it's alright to cry, you know why?

Because no one is judging you.
Um...this seems like it's a bit of dangerous reasoning, though you didn't phrase it in a bidirectional manner...

"I've been bred by society to believe that I'm not allowed to cry" i.e. societal disapproval leading to that, was what I was trying to say.

I'm writing this at 5:40 AM because, for quite a while now, I've been crying pretty solidly every time I set my head down to sleep
Try exchanging sorrow for rage, I find it doesn't last so long, but it is kind of frustrating, at least if you can control it...

Oh, I see.  I honestly don't know to what degree it's a psychological/social thing.  I suspect there are some physiological factors at work.  Anyway, I did manage to cry a couple hours after writing that, so I guess I'm okay.

Unfortunately I am terrifically bad at being angry; I am far too understanding a guy. But that's passed now so it's not a big concern anyway.
