I played a one game of Fire Emblem where there were guys called Generals.
They ROCK.
Although I think I have to start as a spearman or something.

Awww, but you're taking the knight....
There's always the swordsman that turn into the awesome hero.
And paladins, but they don't have much defense.
Also, shame on you that nobody thought Shaman, or druid.

Ok, if anybody can advise, I would like a mid speed, to high speed with ridiculous amounts of defense class.
Don't care about attack, just the defense.
If no such units exist, then I pick Swordsman.
Raven was swordsman right?
Oh, wait he was mercenary, so that.

EDIT: Screw that, after reading the wiki I'm picking the mercenary

I'm sad none of you picked druid, taken the secrete path and became summoner.... there's only like two in the entire series and they rock everyone's socks.

Ok, more opening fluff:

You start in the Kingdom of Arva, in the east. It mainly has mountains, but there are some hills and plains to the east. It is ruled by King Timothy V, and its prince is Prince Timothy VI. Tim V is known for aggression, and his son carries this on.

The Algran Empire covers almost a third of the continent, and is to the central south. It covers much of a large subcontinent, similar to our world's India. It covers three major rivers and their lush floodplains. Its emperor, Masa, has no heir. He is famed for his skill in battle, but tends to go with diplomacy before war.

The Kingdom of Galam is in the southwest. Within its borders are the Ironblood Mountains, the only place wyverns live. The Castle of Galam is well known as an impregnable fortress, and King Saiphus is well known for using it as parts of threats. This kingdom also controls a strip of shore, off which Akan Island is.

The Kingdom of Imalius is to the north of Galam, bounded on the east by the massive Jainu Desert, and by the sea to the west and north. The people are peaceful and it is well known for producing exceptional users and researchers of magic. Often, some of its more adventurous citizens journey into the Jainu in search of ancient relics from the battle long ago.

The Republic of Permil is on a strip of the Algran subcontinent. It broke away less than ten years ago, and is, for the most part, led by a pewerful guild of merchants.
