You invest 4 work-hours into building a shelter(But where?)

You consume one unit of food and one water per 24 hours. (The average consumption rate per day IS the unit!)

It is now 4 hours past dawn, with 8 until dusk. If this seems unrealistic, consider that this is not earth, it is similar-to-earth-but-simplified land. And the level of abstraction will rise as your population goes up.

I say the Shelter is to be at C3 top right, optimal relative to both water and land.

You continue working until night.

Not that you are too tired to continue or anything(You still have a good 4 hours of work-time left), you just figured it was a good time to take a break and assess everything.

The shelter will still take another 8 hours of work, and by the end will have taken 32 units of wood. (Did I say you came with 10? Retconned to 40. 2 walls per wood, and 4 floors per wood. 4 roofs also.)

Once you've built the shelter, dig up mounds of dirt towards the sides to form thick protective walls.

To the north, you see grass and a few trees.



You continue to work on the shelter, for another four hours before going to sleep.

It is the start of day 2 (you eat and drink automaticaly, deducted at the start of each day.)

You put in the last four hours needed to complete your shelter.



It doesn't have a door in it's entrance, but with the current weather, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

There are 8 more hours of day. You can work for 12 more hours without rest.

Recount stocks of available materials and tools.

Build a small shack to store wood.

Go north and cut down some trees.

I think we should start a 4x4 field north of the shelter, leaving room for an earthen wall 1 unit thick and a clear space surrounding it 1 unit thick.

You still have 4 hours of energy left.
The shelter can double as storage.
-1 person (you):
  • +16 work-hours per day
  • Consumes one food-unit per day
  • consumes one water-unit per day
  • Weak magical abilities(+1 MP per day, max 4). Unpracticed(can improve with work) (currently 1/4)

-29 preserved(will not decay) food-units
-10 water-units (With a  source of fresh water nearby, this won't deplete)
-8 wood-units
-one set of basic tools
  • Axe
  • Shovel
  • Saw
  • Hammer
  • And others

-Seeds
  • 10 fast-grow(100 daylight hours to fruit) food-plants(produces: 1.2 seeds, one food-unit,0.2 water-units)
  • anything else you come up with within reason.
