Sorry  to be a pain but how do I install that file into my "shared libaries directory"?
I put it into /usr/lib didn't make a difference.
When i use the commandline you gave me, it doesnt do "./DwarfTherapist: error while loading shared libraries: libdfhack.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" it does the same thing but with "libQtScript.so.4"
I install Qt4 and i know that file is in /usr/lib but it still does it!

Running a fresh install Karmic Ubuntu

Could you share the sources ? So, we'll be able to build and get a clean install.

And it's better to put the lib into /usr/local/lib

Do you intend to update your version to be compatible with d17, Belal? Or are you going to wait till the new version comes out?

I'll be adding d17 support in DFHack, so I guess it will eventually end up here too :)

Give it a day or two.

Yep, as soon as we get all the offsets for d17 in dfHack, I will update this.

My copy of this DT seems to be unable to communicate with 40d16. It claims that no fort is loaded even though I am playing it tat that moment. I am running Vista x64.

Any help?

Have you tried running both Dwarf Fortress and Dwarf Therapist as administrator? That solved the problem for me. I just right-clicked, went to compatibility and checked the box "run as administrator". Sure, everytime you start the exe, Vista will go "Are you sure you want to start this?", but that is a small price to pay. ;)

My main thing with the DFhack edition of DT is the stability. The original DT practically never crashed with me, while this version has an average crash incidence of some 30% for each commit operation I do. Usually it is a "requested to terminate in an unusual way" or other runtime errors. Most of the time the crash is not that annoyning (just requires re-booting DT), but now and then it does more catastrophical crashes that offsets my job assignments (rare) or a windows crash (with error report and such) that also freezes DF.
This new version seems to have less crashes, but still isn't stable.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

Any update on the offsets?

The windows offsets are all done, peterix will probably have linux finished by tommorow or so.  Unfortunatly baughn changed the input code in 40d17 and it is dropping keystrokes, so the changing nicknames and custom professions code is not working, as they send keystrokes to DF to do so.  We are working on this problem currently, and it may be fixed if the input code becomes more robust on the DF side.

In the meantime, I updated the offsets for the original dwarf therapist for d17, so you can use that!
just extract the zip in your Dwarf Therapist directory.

looking into the files, it seems to me that there are only settings for d17 on windows. Is there an ETA for DT working with d17 on linux?
ignore this, i have just re-read Belal's post slightly above mine.

The memory offsets for 40d17 from Belal's post weren't working for me, so I grabbed the Memory.xml file directly from the DFHack repository.  That seems to be working much better.

Here's the copy I'm using:
