Looking for list of Random Names [Fufilled]
« on: December 23, 2009, 04:16:17 pm »

There's various sites on the internet with lists of names, baby names, etc.
But they're scattered among several pages.

Does anyone know a place with a list of names listed in an easily-parseable format, such as a text file?
If possible, could it be split into male/female/either, first/last.

Edit: Thanks, AlStar. That should be enough for now.

I don't know how useful it will be to you, but if you like, I have a couple of java files that I made exactly for this type of thing. First part has 100 male and 100 female first names (I think it was from the top 100 list from whatever year I made the file), second part has ~3000 or 4000 last names (from US census data, as I remember).

I'll post it when I get back from work.

Edit: If you aren't working in Java, it should be fairly trivial to convert them to plain text files.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

Wow, I really underestimated, it's actually 6445 last names... hmm, 190k characters vs max of 40k.

Ok, I don't know how long the bandwidth will hold out, but I can't imagine there will be overwhelming demand for this:
