Author Topic: [40d] Duke refuses to leave the Map Edge, his consort never arrives but shows up  (Read 1065 times)

I searched the forums but only saw posts about stuck military dwarves.

In my current fort, the third replacement duke who came to my fortress got stuck at the edge of the map and refused to move, even though the tax collector who entered just before he did entered my fortress just fine. I had a meeting area designated, and the way into my fortress was wide-open. There did not appear to be any obstacles affecting him.

Eventually, the Duke was stuck out there so long that his migrant status faded. At this point, I got impatient, and used Dwarf Companion to teleport him a couple of squares north, at which point he exhibited normal behavior and entered the fort.

His consort never appeared.

I checked his unit screen, and indeed, a wife was listed for him. I can even view her unit screen by traveling there from her husband's. However, she doesn't appear in my nobles screen, and she is nowhere to be seen on the map, nor does she appear in my unit list.

Incidentally, the same bug just happened to my hammerer/dungeon master duo. The hammerer arrived, got stuck, and prevented the dungeon master from entering the map. Now the game appears to think there is a dungeon master at my fort, but no dungeon master appears in my units screen, and there is no dungeon master on my map.

I can upload saves where the Duke and the Hammerer are both stuck at the edge of the map. Leaving them there appears to cause subsequent units to fail to arrive. When I shifted the Duke with Dwarf Companion, his consort appeared, but the Dungeon Master refused to appear even after I moved the Hammerer.

The version of DF I play does have some significant mods, so I'll upload the whole folder. I would have put it in the title, but it doesn't fit.

The Hammerer incident takes place about a year after the Duke arrives, because the Hammerer and the Dungeon Master should be guaranteed to die of old age. When the replacements arrive, they should be glitched; thus, to get this to occur again one theoretically need only wait a year in the Duke save.

 No way in hell I'm entering this deathtrap. Two of my predecessors died in this hellhole! I had my consort immigrate to another less dangerous fortress.

I have a one-tile meeting area in the dining room on the first underground level. F2 zooms to it. There is a cluster of units where the meeting area is located.

It seems like this glitch continues. In my latest siege, no less than three orc units refused to enter the map and prevented my siege from ending. They were frozen at the edge of the map, and invisible. Killing one caused another pikeman hidden behind her to appear.

After I teleport them, the Duke/Hammerer continue moving.

Furthermore, teleporting the Duke caused the Duchess to appear. Teleporting the Hammerer failed to cause the Dungeon Master to appear.

Either way, not teleporting them causes the Duke/Hammerer to sit at the edge of the map forever until their migrant status runs out. Occasionally (in various save scums I made to observe the situation) they seem to randomly get unstuck after this point, but if they become unstuck after their migrant status runs out, no one follows.

Finally, one year after her arrival was announced, the Dungeon Master randomly appeared on my map at the end of the above glitched Orc siege.
