Windows 7 64 bit is backwards compatiable with 32 bit programs and it works fine on my windows 64 bit so yes.

I have games dating back to the nineties, I haven't had any trouble getting anything to work (other than compatibility settings for some games) on Windows 7 64-bit.

64-bit CPUs and operating systems still natively support 32-bit programs.

The only case I think of where this isn't true is the drivers for your hardware: If you have 64-bit Windows, you need 64-bit drivers.

I get a random crash every once in a while from a Memory Addressing error. It's the only game I get it from.

It has happened exactly three times in the hundreds of hours I've played. So just turn on autosave and have it back them up or something if you experience it at all or are concerned, otherwise -- not a single problem at all.

Run them in a DOSBOX environment and they usually will work ok.

Well, there's also VMWare and whatnot, but natively, yes, older 32 apps tend to not work on 64 bit.

This is exactly what has happened for me too. I haven't played much DF on my new computer though and haven't tested any of the utilities I tend to use.

I did read that any software programmed for 16bit machines which ran on 32bit machines wont run on 64bit ones.

Back to the topic of utilities, are there any problems with compatibility?

Are you sure those aren't 16-bit? If they were written in the DOS/Win3.x era (or even Win9x sometimes) they very well might have been.
