I'm kinda meh about Christmas right now. Which is horrible. I think I've suffered a critical failure at maintaining a childlike disposition.

I thought it was ripped off from Mithras' festival, which was in turn ripped off from the winter solstice? I read a book that made that claim, can't remember which. I think it was "The Eagle of the Ninth".

I mean, I'm Catholic and all, but really, Christmas has lost all meaning for me.

I just enjoy it for what it is.  It never really had any spiritual significance for me, even when I was Christian.

Fun and annoying. Final prep work for Christmas Eve party, and Christmas day. Making candy and such; and wrapping the last gifts I got for everyone.

The indifferent part. I might not be on for the rest of the night; but I'm sure everyone else might be in the same predicament. I'll consider it good I guess.

Preparations are done, now I'll just be hanging out for the rest of the night. I might check back in tomorrow.

For Christmas, I got a widescreen monitor to replace the 1024x768 tubebox I've been lugging around since 2000.  On the one hand, it's nice to have so much more space on my desk.  On the other hand, there's no such thing as non-widescreen mode, and I'm not use to having to physically turn my head to see the whole screen.  It's high enough resolution that everything is still clearly visible if smaller, but my icons feel so far away.  Not to mention the havoc it's going to wreck on my retro gaming.

Overall, indifferent so far I guess.

Nthing the Christmas indifference.  I think I only enjoyed it as a kid because it still had some novelty.  Now it's just an unrelentingly predictable drain on my patience and finances.  Okay, I guess that goes a bit beyond indifference.  Bah fucking humbug.

Wait, really?  Not even if you fiddle the little buttons near the power switch or whatever?  That does kinda suck.

This. I've been disenchanted with Christmas for many years now. The last three have seen disenchantment progress to complete and utter indifference.

I'm patiently waiting for December to end. (I'm indifferent to New Years, mind you. Just happy when December is over.)
